Savage 10 FCP-K Accustock weight question

Hello,

Does anyone know what the accustock for the Savage 10 FCP-K weighs? I tried asking Savage's customer service and was told they do not have that information available (?!). I haven't been able to find the weight for just to stock on the internet, though I know the whole gun comes in at about 8.9lbs.

2 lbs 9 oz with magazine and trigger guard.

I have yet to shoot the Mcree, but the fit and finish are absolutely outstanding and they are a great company to deal with. This weekend I'll be able to get out to the range for awhile. I really have to remember to put something on the aluminum cheek riser, it's a shock to the system putting your face up to that thing when its cold outside.

If I could ask a couple of follow on questions: Did you go with a fixed or folder and what made you go with the aluminum stock vs the AR model?

Fixed. I don't really see a circumstance where a folder would be of any advantage, for me. But if I wanted to switch it's only two bolts.
I like the shape of the bottom of the Mcree butt stock and I don't think you can use a mono pod on the ar-15 butt stock, but I could be wrong. I really have no interest in AR's or their parts and live in a state that makes it a hassle, so why bother?

Good points all. I am looking at the Magpul PRS as a possible butt stock if I ever scrape together the cash for a chassis. The Mcrees look fantastic and I am not a fan of the ergonomics on the accustock, especially for the trigger hand.

yeah, though according to my rough math the chassis adds a little under two pounds. Does that check out with you? That big heavy barrel isn't helping matters. How is the balance?

just under 14.5 lbs with scope and empty mag. Oh, and harris bi-pod. I will have re-check balance again tomorrow, but I am pretty sure it evened it out quite a bit.

That is a beast. I wonder how much cutting down the barrel (say 4-6 inches) would impact performance.

I would think, if you are so inclined, there is quite a bit of material that you could have milled down in some way to cut weight. I'm thinking in the fore end area wouldn't affect performance, at least to a certain point.

Do you mean on the chassis or the barrel? Also, when are we going to get photos of the new setup?

I think I can do low rings instead of mediums. I probably will cerakote action and barrel when it comes time for a new barrel. Don't mind the "Holy shit its cold today and I gotta do something about this aluminum cheek riser" cheek riser cover. I have yet to figure what I'm going to do with that.

Sharp looking rig! Do you think the compact chassis would make sense from a weight perspective or would the bipod mount too far back to be balanced?

Also, is that a Vortex 6-24 pst?

Honestly, I think the compact would look silly with these barrels being so long.

I had to do a little customization to the bolt to get it to properly pick up the next round out of the magazine. I will provide some pics and a description tomorrow so you know what is what going in.

I am using an accurate-mag so I don't know if this problem would happen with AI or Mcrees mag. I found that the magazine sits too far back, or the bolt did not retract far enough to pick the round up out of the magazine.

So I had to measure how much to take off of this part of the bolt. This is what hits the stop when you retract the bolt.

It could be different for every rifle, so I couldn't tell you specifically how much to cut off, if you even have to. I had to remove about 3/16". I used a dremel to cut through the bulk of it, then a hacksaw to get up close and personal. Since it doesn't have anything to do with the chamber I didn't think it was any sort of safety issue. I shot quite a bit on Saturday and still have my face, and the rounds chamber flawlessly.

Shot great! Trigger hand was much more comfortable and I didn't have to rely as much on the rear bag to lock in my hold. So, in theory, I should be able to get on target faster and follow up shots should come faster. I like it better for both prone and bench shooting.
It sure is a lot easier to go through ammo fast with a 10 round magazine instead of the 4 rounder though.
