Hello All. My question is the Standard AI .300wm magazine length long enough for todays 208-215 grain bullets long enough (3.63") or would I be better off to go with a .338 CIP length magazine or is that even possible?

I am using a Rem. 700 PSS .300WM fitting to either a McMillan A 3 or AI AX either could be purchased with CIP mags for .338LM not sure if .300 will feed out of those mags or if there is a longer .300WM magazine choice available.

Thanks for any help with this.

You can get 300wm mags in the standard 3.715, 3.775 or (I'm pretty sure) in cip length (3.85 iirc)
**EDIT my 3.775 300wm Accurate Mags measure 3.704 inside, I'm ASSuming that 3.715 mags would be roughly 0.060" shorter, so around 3.644. I suspect any factory loads will fit fine, it's just a matter of what you plan to shoot and how long you need them to be

The 338 mags should work. I shoot a Sako trg 42 in .300 win mag, when they quit making the .300 version and I needed mags I found the .338 and the .300 use the same mag. Although if the AI mag is 3.63 I don't know how much you would be gaining by using the .338 mag. My pet load for the trg is a 208 a-max with a col of 3.60. Depending on how your rifle is chambered ie short throat/long throat 3.60 inches should be plenty long to get you to to the rifling or damn close.

I got hooked up with a A 3 McMillan and a call to Seekins saved Me my troubles they had their BM with the CIP length LA mag that will allow all the factory Remington LA will take so I should be Good with any usable length.

Thanks for the feedback
