I can't decide which I should get for my recce style ar. I have narrowed it down to these two. It will be used for hunting mainly but occasionally shooting out to 4-500 yards. What are your thoughts on these scopes

The biggest difference between them is the PST is a true 1x, the Leupy isn't. I know its easy to shoot both eyes open up to 3x or so, but the true 1x has to be looked at in person to see the difference it really makes. The seamless stereoscopic sight picture is really nice and target acquisition speed is increased.

The PST also has zero stop, 30mm main tube, and turret rotation counter marks. I like my Mk AR mod1 3-9x really well and I wish the smaller one was true 1x (I'd probably buy one). The PST is generally considered the best bang for the buck in a 1-4x24 and can be found for $399 occasionally.

The reticle on the PST is damn good for close shots or at distance. Not to mention the glass is damn good! Bright and clear...

I went to cabelas this evening and ended up buying a pst. They didn't have the mark ar mod 1 but after looking at the vortex vs some of the other leupolds I decided to just go ahead and get the vortex.

I think they are all good scopes and own 3 PST's but for me I like more that 4 x for a hunting scope.
Shooting 400 or 500 yards at a whitetail or a hog with a 4 x can be hard to place the shot where you want it.

I'm mainly going to be calling coyotes with it so the shots will usually be around 100 yds or less. Most of the long range use of the gun will be at targets

Sorry , I misunderstood your original post . You made a good choice for a scope .
