I am looking for a hunting pistol to use in Africa. I would like to be able to put a rifle stock on it sometimes also. I prefer a larger like the 454. Trying to research it, but have not had much luck. Thought someone on here might know.
Thanks for the info.

You better visit the atf's website and familiarize yourself with the nfa.

If you put a shoulder stock on it make sure the barrel is at least 16 1/4 '' long. the feds frown on anything less.

I could be wrong here, but you can take almost any pistol action, like an XP-100 or something and convert it to a rifle. Once it becomes a rifle you cannot convert it back to a pistol without it becoming a class 3 weapon. Don't know about the TC Encore units. Check with the ATF on this.

I stand to be corrected, but I believe it is determined by what the original manufacturer serial numbered the weapon as. If it was made as a pistol it will always be a pistol and no rifle stocks will be put on it unless it has a 16 inch barrel. Some exceptions are the broomhandle mausers, which now are an antique.
