Just brought her home today and couldn't resist a quick and dog hair infested shoot just now.

160# of South African Boerboel roaming the house makes it inevitable.

Been wanting one for years. Is the frame raw stainless steel or is it coated?

The other half showed up today...and I paid more attention to dog hair removal.

Several years back I bought myself an EB Bobcat as a retirement gift to myself. It's been one of THE absolute best 1911's I have ever owned or shot.
Reliable and accurate. Tough combination to beat.

VERY nice. Congrat's. Enjoy!

Beautiful pistols. Do you like the chainlink treatment on the guns? I fired one with it and found it not abrasive enough.

Just don't shoot any Herter's ammo out of them. You will ruin your slide and they won't warranty their guns if you do. Steel ammo is too hard for the ED Browns. Used to think they were nice until dealing with the Brown family. ..arrogant jerks.

Get a grip. ;-) I actually like it for carry. With the right grips on it it's not an issue for me.

You should probably try not being such a fucking pussy.

I have heard from more then one person that Ed is an A-Hole! I personally can't say, but I can say that the two pistols I have owned from him never needed any customer service.

I don't care what the personality is of the owner of the company I buy my firearms from. I care about the quality of the firearm.

I had to get the gay ass "special forces" deleted from the left of the slide on the one I own. I'm not special forces.

The GEN III stuff is very effective for corrosion resistance. But it is fairly soft compared to some other finishes. It will wear when used. But….the GEN III does a good job of remaining on the metal and stops corrosion very well.

Steel ammo is not an issue. I run steel ammo just fine or well over 15 years.

But some ammo (Tula I know for sure) suffers from issues where the primer pocket doesn't seal and the shooter get's primer-flow, which eats the breech-face of the pistol. Wilson Combat had some 1911s come in with it as well. Cabelas was selling a pile of some discount ammo that had the issue and caused all kinds of hell a few years back.

Here is the ultimate proof, Glock issued an internal notice to their trainers and armors that said ammo was NOT to be USED in Glock due to primer-flow eating breech faces.

Anyone who has reloaded ammo knows what I am talking about.

I understand how this stuff gets started. But the truth is, most people who shoot guns shouldn't play-doctor and self-diagnose if they don't know the technology. Also….in many cases, certain parties will have a vested interest in perpetuating certain myths so as to avoid responsibility.

Ammo cases by design are supposed to be softer than the chamber they reside in for numerous reasons.

I tend to agree with you. I don't care if it is the Special Forces, Cobra, ect...... I could do without all that on mine.

You are correct it is the model. Can't it be small? I hated the Big GRP on the slide. It didn't make it shoot any better.

That is an awesome looking gun. Congrats!

I used to have a stainless SF a few years back. I do miss it sometimes.

Had I ordered them from Ed Brown I would have done the same, that said, the time and $ I saved by sniping gunbroker auctions more than makes up for the engravings.

Maybe for you. I don't mind paying more to get exactly what I want. And when buying a 2k+ firearm you better believe it will be EXACTLY what I want with no
compromise.

Congrats on saving a few bucks on yours.

Ditto. I tend to avoid firearms, knives or watches with "Navy Seal, Ranger or Boy Scout markings" as I was none of the above.

First off, they are beautiful pieces. Secondly, while I understand your points on the "Special Forces" it is the model name just like my GMC says Yukon, that doesn't mean I am from Canada. Personally, if it ever goes up for sale I would question why the name isn't on there. Finally, I bought a Brown to make myself happy, not worry that on the side it says Kobra and someone might think I can't spell.

Anyways, again really nice weapons.

I have one. I would prefer not to have "Special [fill in the blank]" or any such labeling on my guns. I didn't need to spend my life walking around with a shirt that said "great lover, charmer, dancer, genius, and general bad-arse". All that was clear from just watching me do my thing. My EB SF has the label, but if I ordered it from EB directly and had the choice, I would have asked for a de-badged exemplar. That said, the OP has a fine looking gun and took some great photos. And EB should be commended for keeping the badge to a relatively minimal size.

At 57 I'm more likely to visit the Yukon than join SF. I would buy one sans the badazz rollmark to make myself happy. The Kobra wouldn't bother me as I am an atrocious speller.

The softness of the finish is more like a feature. It bends rather than chips like some other finishes might. It is a good tradeoff between durability and corrosion resistance for concealed carry where your body sweat might cause some oxidation.

Nice, and I think it is spelled badazzle, j/k. I hear what you saying, I dislike the lettering on my wife's EMP.

Thanks Eddie, that brought an audible chuckle out of me.
no doubt, I did too.
