I first started my expensive journey on this site earlier this year, I have purchased many fine rifles and all the paraphernalia associated with them. I think it says a lot about a community such as ours that you can send tens of thousands of dollars to persons or vendors you do not know, and sure enough the brown box company shows up with your unmolested new toy. At least for me, that has been the case.

How many other transactions in life could be done with this level of trust? Just thought it was worth mentioning, especially in light of all the candy asses in our world today.

Happy New Year to all,

Cats

Even though there's some great pissing matches that happen on tis site, for the most part the gun community is a polite group. Very few people getting fucked around in the for sale section, always has to be one or two though.
I was one of the first people to buy and sell on Gun Broker, and remember the first time I sent MO's out for over 1K, to some unknown guy, it was kinda scary. But another way to look at it, you're buying gun stuff, apparently you have guns. And if you have 1500.00 dollars to send someone, you probably have 1500.00 to buy a plane ticket to get to that persons address to make it right!
And any business that thinks they can screw people over and circumvent avenues like these forums, or the net in general, just pure stupidity! F&D defense comes to mind.

This is a good place with good people.
I have been very anxious about sending 3k out before. Couldn't have been a better experience.

Isn't that strange?

I've sent thousands to unknown people, never been burned yet.

Don't even worry about it really.

I too have sent off thousands to members of this site. Once in a while there will be a deadbeat but it usually gets straightened out. I never have been burned. But you gotta remember who frequents this site. Some of us are just weekend steel ringers and yet again some of us are law enforcement with contacts all over the US. Some of us are the "Real Deal" Scout snipers, SEALs, Army SF etc. so... It's kinda a like the saying goes. An armed society is a polite society.

I'm with DuneBoer. Over the last year or two, I have spent a fair bit of disposable income (extra shifts worked) on upgrading my scopes as well as some other goodies. Many have been bought off other members here. I've been careful, and have not had any issues. I must say, the members that I have done deals with have been patient and have been excellent in keeping me informed. As well, many have sent me their cell numbers along with the other info needed to finish a deal. Yes, one my never know who they are dealing with.....

Been burned once over $200 worth of bullets out of many thousands of $$$ worth of buying/selling. Good folks with a pssion for a common interest.

The only time I will buy from an individual is if I see them in deep financial trouble, and even then, it's an eye-to-eye transaction. That's my way of helping, because my money goes to a place of need, and if the individual gets back on their feet, they can always get their treasured firearm back without any markup.

Otherwise, I buy from an established business; run by an individual I trust and hold in highest esteem. Part of it is about keeping needed suppliers in business, and part is about keeping things aboveboard and in accordance with the law, no matter how much I distrust the yahoos who wrote it. I'm not going to force my grandkids to visit me in the pen, not even once. It's also partly because I prefer new to used when it comes to firearms; too many questions with no reliable answers.

Yes, this is a great site, and a lot of commerce is transacted on the basis of mutual trust. I think that's a really cool thing. I also know for a fact that if I tried such, my Wife would be on me like white on rice, and that's putting it politely. I've found it can actually be beneficial to conform to the wishes of She Who Must Be Obeyed.

I really enjoy this place and most of the people on it. I've spent untold thousands of dollars on here over the last few years and I've never been burned by anyone. I did have one guy that I got cross ways with over an inaccurate description of a rifle along with him taking months to send all the other stuff I got with it. I feel very fortunate to be able to deal with such a great group of trustworthy people. There have been times when I've felt more comfortable sending thousands of dollars to other Hide members than I did buying from a "online store". I think the feedback feature that was added when the site was updated was an excellent idea. We got by just fine without it before, but it's still nice.

Great site! I'm glad this year is about over as it was the worst in my life healthwise for my wife & I but thank God that's behind us & 2014 will be great. Thanks for a great site full of great members. Happy New Year to everyone!

I've sold quite a few scopes/rings/mounts on the Hide. My guess, $20k +/-.

Never had a problem. Have been invited to go hunting pigs, shoot at a large range on the other side of the state, go fishing offshore, etc.

All the folks I've dealt with were true to their word.

It wouldn't take long for a shit ass to get run off. LL and the mods don't take too much shit.

Pretty good info, great vendors, decent members, some serious rifle/scope pics.

This site has cost me a fucking fortune... but in a good way.

I went through and sold a lot of stuff of late and people acted kind of funny at first but damn I always took good care of 'em.
Was different when my post count was greater than 8000 but the new update killed that off.

K98 going out the door next week, he's getting a good deal and a fine rifle.

I keep lurking, when I get moved to Texas I will get another precision rifle and begin again and it will be *me* sending out money, without hesitation.

Well this is a gun forum and there are some laws that might limit the ownership of guns for people wih convictions.

If this was a forum for lockpicking and meth cooking there might be different outcomes when money is sent.
