So ill be looking for a used AR reciver . Im wanting to go with a 20 in 1 in 7 barrel , standard hand guard, and a2 brake . So what would be a good price for a used flat top reciver?

Why go used when there are reliable manufacturers @ $100+/-? Im all for saving money, but some things I'd rather pay more or wait for, like a receiver.

he's looking for an upper receiver. with a bcg or no? I don't know what they would be used but I think you might be better served buying new for a hundred dollars or so more. I have used model one sales for this before and I very happy with what I got (24" ss heavy barrel flat top, floating hand guard low pro gas block). It shoots very well, I hit a uspsa head at 600 yesterday with, get this, a 40 gr v max yesterday. Only once, but I only tried once. I got a kit for around $550. Good luck.

I have a 16 in delton upper it shoots great, thay have a 20 in upper like i want BUT, its a 1 in 9 ... was just thinking if i found a used complete upper id just change barrel and hand guard ?

Not knowing the cost I can't really offer any advice except wonder what the cost of new barrel and hand guard would be, with the used upper, seems like it might be a wash with a new one.

If you want a used complete upper to replace half of the components essentially, then your almost back to what I assumed you meant when you originally posted "upper receiver". People are still asking $400ish for a complete upper, so why not get a good receiver and BCG, and buy the handguards and barrel you want anyway. Potentially a money saver and youre not getting potentially sloppy seconds with unknown mileage.

True, guess im jusy trying to be cheep . A new is 500 ish. Would be best if i dont have to send 500 at one time tho . Piece by piece would be easier

Thats what I am doing with my build, piecemeal as affordable and only skimping on parts that will be replaced when my SBR paperwork gets in. Did it before, worth the wait, especially after learning the hard way the build before that.

So i guess i need to start looking for a reciver first. Think ill go with all del-ton parts. I really like there stuff. Are chrome lined barreled worth the extra? Do thay help or hurt accuracy?

Ive seen blemished recievers in the $75 dollar range lately, but then you have to get a forward assist and dust cover. Honestly I have a carbine with a dpms slick side reciever and a varminter and pistol with forward assit and dust cover. I dont ussualy notice the difference. I do like the look of forward assist and dust cover better.

Still not sure who makes a good AR barrel. im not looking for a custom barrel, i want a drop in.

Dpms has a 20in a3 upper 1 in 9 with BCG for 499$ . Dont know much about them tho

You can shoot 80s with an 8tw out of a 20" just fine. If someone is telling you that you can't go somewhere else.
