Sidearms & Scatterguns Springfield XD-S Recall

Update:
My new retail store told me they were unaware of the recall until I told them about it.
They are ordering me a new gun and will trade me for my old one which will go back to Springfield then to their rental range.
Kudos to Barracks 616 of Grand Rapids Michigan.
They didn't have to do this. I recommend anyone in that area support this kind of place.
You won't get that type of service very often!

Glad to hear that it worked out for you, and kudos indeed to the shop for doing the right thing. I'll definitely have to stop in and check out their place.

Just got an update explaining where they are with returning guns during the recall. Looks like I'll get mine back between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was mostly hype about how much better the gun is now. Whatever.

When did you send yours in?

Mine will be back tomorrow according to fed ex. I sent it in during the first two days of the recall. Let ya know after a trip to the range my thoughts on it.

Got mine back this week, shot a few mags through it today with 165 gr. Guard Dogs, 185 gr Speer short barrel loads and some Magtech 230 gr Hardball. All functioned perfect, trigger is heavier bit I love this gun !!!

I'm going to send mine in tomorrow , I didn't know about the recall untill I saw this post , thanks guys , thanks lowlight:cool:

I remember seeing several threads about this on XD Talk over the last few years. People always swear up and down that it's not possible because all of the safeties would have to fail... and now there's a recall for it. I will say my XD9 I got in the beginning of 2008 I put well over 10K rounds through without a single malfunction, that's still pretty low for a pistol but it never missed a beat.

The XD9 I got back in 07 probably had 25-30K rounds and never an issue. But who knows maybe a bad production lot of part X couple with some certain situation could cause a disaster. Thats why we have safety rules and you never point you weapon at something you dont intend to shoot.

Sent to SA on 8/29, received my XDs .45 today. Everything looks and feels good. I'm very pleased with SA's handling of the entire thing and the free mag is just a bonus.

Got mine back today; the bonus extended mag was a super nice reward for the time and effort of sending it back. I had to drive 40 miles round trip to the nearest fedex place when I dropped it off. SA deserves a thumbs up pat on the back for that!

Am I the only person who got a flush mount and extended mag back? I think SA did a great job with the recall.
