Ok I need some help which one and why

This will be my first big bore gun.

I just want the best bang for the buck.;)

Thanks for the help in advance.

Both are nice the Savage gives a lot for the money but the Rem has more aftermarket support .Depends on your budget.

Having the Savage BA 110 in 338LM I would say it is a lot of gun for the dollar. Mine is a good shooter consistantly delivering under 3/4 MOA at range. That being said I am not 100% sold on the stock on the BA. If I were to do it again I would buy the FCP take off the HS stock (sell it) and put it in an XLR Chassis. Or better yet buy an action a prefit Criterion barrel in at least 28" barrel with a fat bastard brake and put the whole thing in an XLR chassis. I do really like the savage accutriggers and bang for the buck they are very hard to beat.

Remingtons are also good guns although the 338LM has had its issues with them. Lots of aftermarket, but so does Savage. Out of the box, bang for the buck, I would do the Savage again in a heartbeat.

A friend has a 110 ba, i did load work for and was impressed. It would stack 300 gr smk at 100, lots of <.6" groups, fairs pretty good at 1k also. I agree with the above post, i think the chassis is the weak link. I refinished his rifle and the bedding area and recoil lug pocket are a joke. The hs prec factory model is a better deal, that stock is alot more comfortable and solid feeling then the factory chassis. It is quite abit cheaper also. Not a big xlr fan, if i wanted a chassis on it i would buy the hs and sell the stock or build one and run a McRee or pdc.

Thanks for all the help.
I looks like the Savage is the on to go with.
They are both about the same price so that is not a problem.
What do some of these chassis run in price.

750ish, McRee offers a bare chassis that is cheaper, it just needs paint. Not for sure about availability for 338. If u really want something different then stock its best to start from scratch with a build. I have said that factory savage barrels are alot better then Remington barrels but... If u plan on customizing out of the gate u should just build one. A hs prec 110 is 12-1300 plus 750 ish chassis. Any chassis on the market is better then the factory aluminum crap. Pta for 570+ptg bolthead 50.00+ chassis 750ish+match prefit barrel350-450. Comes in at the same as a factory set up with chassis or the 110ba, plus ita got a great barrel .
Savage contacted PDC about looking at his chassis for a new series of rifles incorporating his chassis . After6 mo they sent it back and said love it but they're going to put it on hold. 6 mo later they come out with the 110 bas-k models. They had a striking resemblance in design, look, and assembly to PDC. Savage put a caa buttstock on it just to fubar it. They also offered an aluminum buttstock that looked pretty close to PDC design. I had just saw pictures of it compared to my PDC. When my buddy got one and i had both rifles apart comparing stocks it was like comparing a gap10 to a tapco fucked AR. I would never pay savage for that shitty copy of a PDC . Now there are several good chassis for savage , but at the time pdc was the only game in town for ai mag feed savage chassis.
