I think it was a good experience for me to build my 10/22. I had one plain jane 10/22 and now I feel like it is mine. Quite accurate to 50 yards. I use those free stamps you get from some charities as targets. If you aren't in a hurry, one can build one quite affordably. I scored the stock unfinished for $50. I got a Voquartzen trigger kit on sale from Midway. I later got the barrel from a closeout. Weaver/picatinney rail now resides and a better scope. It is a lot of fun. I finished the stock myself and it looks pretty good.

So many different ways to go! What's your budget for the setup? You wanna do the work all yourself or use a gunsmith?
If you like digging a hole, then pour money into it add gas, set on fire, after all burned up, cover hole with DRIT.

picked this up here. love plinking steel at 230yards with sub sonics. its a 452 Super sniper on top...

i like DIP 20-25 MOA base,should get you out to 200yd easy, also (check out cz 455 mod thread) some great gents here wil help out i am sure.
i have just finished my sons cz455 build i must say turned out great, with help from jbell.bm11,justin, short bus, an others.
the hard part is the ammo, finding a good lot# of brand X that will shoot, but thats part of the fun.

All kidding aside, you won't regret it. Yoteman summed it up perfect. I just picked up a CZ 455 PT and really like it. It had bolt and trigger work already done and shoots great. I am taking part in the Lilja group buy and look forward to adding that and seeing how it shoots. I have a Nightforce 3.5-15 on it now, but only because it has not made it to my .308. The plan is to swap out the SS 5-20 which is on the .308 and put it on the CZ. at least that's the plan now. Anyway, go for it and then join us in the various rimfire challenges. Lots of fun.

solid chunk of aluminum with mounting holes and adjustment where you need it. need to get a more vertical AR15 grip.
wouldn't mind a vertical feature at the rear of the stock too.
and if anyone is mounting a SS on a 452 go a little higher on the rings. this one just clears.

I've got about $700, including the scope in each the 10/22's I built for my nephews, and they will both shoot a one hole five shot group at 25 yards. Something just a bit bigger at 50, I need to see if I can shoot sub moa at 100 now with them.
No offense Newshooter but they all shoot great at 25 yards. Let me know how they shoot at 200yds.
If I had custom gun money to spend I would buy an Anschutz and KNOW that I had a rifle that would outshoot an awful lot of custom rifles. The Germans know quite a lot about building a rimfire that will just flat out shoot. You can put a lot of money in a custom build, but at the end of the day it may not outshoot an out of the box Annie. If I had BIG custom money to spend I would probably buy a Sauer.

I've had great luck with the heavy fluted theaded barrel Savage bolt actions with the tactical bolt handles, $225 @ Sportsman outdoor warehouse. Bought a green stocked one at Dicks when they opened for $169 scoped with a cheap 3x9-40. My range is 65 yds using galv ductwork to stick the targets on & a 10 shot group I can't put my little finger thru. I'd start with one of these & put in a boyds stock & put a can on if legal in your state. Have a nice looking shooter for about $600. Just my opinion.

CZ 455 Varmint Precision Trainer: CZ-USA -> CZ 455 Varmint Precision Trainer It comes in a Manners T4 stock and will likely shoot better than most of us. Shoot it for a while. Get a trigger job or drop in a Timney if necessary. If you find yourself wanting to sink more money into it, believe me I understand the compulsion. I don't own a single firearm that I haven't modified in some manner. Hell, my sons' Cricket got a trigger job and a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot. So if you decide you need a better barrel you can easily swap it out to a Lilja. Beyond that, you are in the realm of diminishing returns. For example, my 1022 with Green Mountain Barrel, some Volquartsen small parts, and it's current stock (about the 7th I've had it in) shoots well and I enjoy it, but I've sunk at least twice the money into it that I spent on my factory CZ 452 16" TB. And I shoot better with the CZ.

Vortex (Seekins) low 30mm rings
On the to-do list is to install some flush cups, since I'm trying to migrate most of my slings to QD swivels.
