Berger is making more bullets

I love Berger bullets: they're all I use for hunting, my 6 Creed, and my 7mm Practical. Still, they need to get their ass in gear for that 195gr 7mm they've been promising. My setup should have that pill around 3000 fps and I can't wait to see it. Still, they're increasing production capacity over 100% so my hats off to them.

That's great news, I hope it works out.

Undoubtedly, component manufacturers have been hesitant to invest capital on increased manufacturing output because they've been unsure if the recent (over the last couple years) demand has just been a spike, or long term.

Yeah, well, Berger needs to do something about their pricing...

They make great products that only a few shooter can afford to shoot exclusively. Because of that they have a relatively small share of the market...they r ripe for a hostile takeover.

I'm all for capitalist competition, but I don't clearly see what company is going to step up and challenge Berger. Sierra focuses on easy to load, forgiving, traditionally shaped tangent-ogive bullets. Hornady has shown they care mainly about green-tipped zombie bullets in .224" and .308", to say nothing of their inferiority to both Sierra and Berger (don't get me wrong, I like Hornady bullets just fine, but they are NOT as consistently made as Green/Yellow). There there are the boutique manufacturers that've been around for a long time that don't seem to care about growing larger. JLK, Cutting Edge etc etc.

Frankly, I don't think Berger bullets pricing is (far) out of line. It'd be great if they were free, but in many cases they offer the premier bullet for the wants and needs of many shooters. Only to be expected that premier bullet will carry a cost premium.

Meh.

Ive sorted alot of Sierra match Kings over the years and alot of Bergers over the years. The Bergers have proven to be more consistant than the SMK. In a typical lot of SMK I'll end up with 3-4 measurement categories. In a typical lot of Bergers I'll end up with 2 and it is kind of splitting hairs. I feel their current pricing is woth the few extra bucks. If they increase too much though, then I'll just by SMK because both manufacturers make bullets that shoot very well.
