Rifle Scopes Swfa super sniper

Hey guys. As it seems im always looking to try something different or upgrade my optics here I go again.

For quite some time ive been hearing good things about the super snipers in general. Im more geared toward the 3-15 and 5-20 hd models. I havent done much work with mildot reticles.

Im wondering what peoples thoughts are on the milquad reticle.

Any other impressions of the scope are welcome also or suggestions to go another route.

I love the shit out of SS's, particularly, the HD models. The value is outstanding. The glass quality, for the price, is probably the best in their class. Additionally, they are built extremely well. I now own a Razor and a Bushnell XRS, and in my opinion, the SSHD glass is better than either of these scopes.

The milquad reticle is nice. Takes a bit to get used to, but once you learn the subtensions, you'll be able to capitalize on its qualities. I would still own SSHD's if only they manufactured a Horus/GAP-type "Christmas tree" reticle. I have grown used to those now, and I believe I would find it difficult to go back. I emailed SWFA about the reticle issue because I like their scopes so much, but they reported no plans on coming out with a GAP reticle iteration.

If I were you, I would not hesitate to purchase one. I would try to go with the 5-20HD. You could find one, used, for just a couple hundred more than a BNIB 3-15.

They are a great company to deal with too. My only advice is to make sure you call them prior to your order to verify they have product in-stock. Their website does not update inventory real time.

Thanks for the reply! Im with you. I've been waiting for them to add some reticle options. If they did I would own one by now.

I just got a bushy ers with tremor reticle and really enjoy the thing. Kind of wish I had the h59 instead.

So im scoping a new gun and was just going to find a used hdmr and be done. Then for the same price I see ss 5-20 hd, the new burris offerings, and many others for the same price.

I have been impressed by the fixed 12 power that I have. It has the MIL quad reticle. I ordered the 3-15 yesterday. I think they are a good value.

I'm loving my SWFA scopes. The MilQuad reticle is well-marked with finely rendered subtentions, for a fantastic price. Rugged, great resettable turrets, decent parallax adjustment.

*newbie opinion alert* I haven't looked through any $4k-$7k scopes, but the few Vortex & Nightforce scopes I've looked through didn't impress me enough to regret my SWFA scopes one bit. Tremendous value.

I might sell a few of my scopes to get one top shelf scope like S&B or Tangent Theta, but in the mean time I'm very very happy with SWFA Super Sniper.

The value of the SS scopes to your dollars spent is quite high. Last Summer I went shooting with a buddy who has a new Steiner, and we did a side by side with my SS 5-20. No doubt the Steiner had better glass (to my eyes). However, the cost difference was around $1000 more for the Steiner. I was very impressed with my buddies new scope.

Later on we started shooting out to 600 yds at various sized steel plates. I was able to see and score hits right along with him. I still have the SS 5-20, along with a SS 1-6 and 3-9. SS scopes are plenty good enough for my needs, and I may pick up another 5-20 or 3-15 in the future.

On top of being damn good scopes which are built tough, SWFA also stands behind them with one of the better, if not best warranties in the business.

Can you buy better? Sure you can, but you'll pay for it. For my uses and the distances I shoot, SWFA SS scopes have worked very well and have held up without a hiccup.

I've had a 10X42 SS for the past 5-6 years that has been a spare and lender scope. It has been on at least 10 different rifles, from a Volquartsen .22 auto to my M1A. Decent optics, repeatable adjustments , what more can one ask for the money spent?
One of THE BEST values out there I think.
