Sometimes the chlorine in the gene pool takes a while to do it's work.

I think those are rock climbers for whom this is like you strolling in a park... Some get real kick out of climbing without safety and i guess they've made their peace with maker and gravity...

Ah yes, a drink of fresh warm milk then a tasty furburger...My kind of meal.....

I met Steff Davis in California during a climbing trip -- we were introduced by similar-world-class-quality climber who was my guide for a few days of climbing. Watching Steff climb live is both an inspiration and a challenge to the ego. She's really, really good. A number of years back I climbed the Casual Route on the Diamond of Longs Peak. It's maybe 100 feet to the right of the route Steff free-soloed in the video. The Casual Route was really quite hard for me, yet it's much easier than the Pervertical Sanctuary Route Steff did. And we used ropes, and I took a short fall near the top of the wall.

There's a classic saying among climbers. There are old climbers. There are bold climbers. But there are no old, bold climbers.

i holpe Steff (and those like her) become exceptions to the rule.

I knew Slovenian alpine climber who died in Pakistan few years back and i think he wouldn't have it any other way. For his wife and kids i'm sure its tough but this is how he was wired (not to extreme and did abandon a lot of his climbing for family) and who he was and while we can have opinion on it (selfishness/madness/whatever) in the end and ultimately he alone will answer for his actions before his maker. You simply cannot stop living just because you have kids also what better example for kids if their parents do what they love with passion and dedication and even if tragedy strikes those left behind keep their spirit and live on.

Some say its better to live like a match burning intensely for a shorter time than live dull and uneventful life for a long time...

Fuck.. I can't even watch that..
They defy gravity, but I'm gravities bitch and I know it... ( ie, not real fond of heights...)

Was making my stomach churn while watching it. I'm okay with heights when safety is involved but without any safety measures what so ever...don't have that kind of agility/balance.

Its a short amount of time. Do you really want your last thought as the light fades to be "I should have......."

My first try at that was out in Az. Climbed a really mild cliff and as I pulled up over a small ledge there was a rattler sitting there looking me eyeball to eyeball.

Cured me of wanting to climb rock faces.

I don't always go snowboarding, but when I do I like to hit these slopes.

I guess everyone didn't learn the first time. I'm really surprised a veteran member (Papa Zero Three) would show pink in here and risk the entire thread getting deleted again.

What a shame...

Me Culpa, I had a CRS moment and the "no vag" rule slipped my mind. Thanks for the edit and keeping the thread open.

PZ3, that thing was brown, would've had to spec 6-8" up in there to get to pink, I thought you were safe!
