A Navy buddy and I are thinking about a NFA trust. If we are both on the trust living in the same state can we store the suppressors at two separate locations?

I don't see why not as long as one of you is at each location, but I'm sure someone else can tell you 100% one way or the other

You'll need to do a form 20 if the location changes 'permanently'. If its a 'temporary' in state move then no federal notification is needed.

Your state/local laws may have other requirements.

jdonovam,

I think you misread his question he was asking to have a trust for two different location.

Navyshooter,

That sounds doable to me but I'm not expert. I'd contact one of the gun trust lawyers listed on here.
Gun Trust Lawyer Referrals | Silencer Shop Chris Bass did my trust over a year ago and till this day will still answer any questions I might have that come up. Let us know what you come up with when you find out!

The trust has to have a permanent address attached to it. But if both of you are listed as trustors or trustees, then you both are legally allowed to be in possession of the item. And you are allowed to be in possession of it outside of the trusts permanent address. So as long as it's in your possession, I would think you could have it at any location you want.

That is 100% correct..

NFA THE RIGHT WAY!!!!!

The ability of more than one person to use the class 3 item is one of the key advantages of the trust. My (limited) understanding is that you may need permission to move the item out of your state though.

Cheshire. I am. Lawyer in the state of Texas. Licensed in the state of Texas. If he is in Texas and has a legal question about the requirements of a Texas trust, he can feel free to call me and I will be happy to answer his questions about Texas trust law.

Now, are you a lawyer? Are you licensed to practice law in Texas?

Can you answer legal questions about Texas trust law?

Or, are you in ohio?

I don't care if you charge less than I do for a generic trust.

I will answer his questions even if he decides to use your service which is cheaper than I charge for my services.

I notice that you post the same generic post in every thread with a trust question so you are getting your business links out.

But I can and do try to answer the Texas members questions with correct answers.

and once again you did not answer any of the questions that I posed to you.

ETA: Further, I have not had anything negative to say about your service. I do contribute to the forum and try to help everyone out here who has a trust question. whether I did their trust or whether I didn't do their trust.

I apologize if you feel threatened, but are you trying to run everyone with legal knowledge out of this forum?

In Texas, the trust does not have to have a permanent address attached to it.

Its situs is in the state of Texas. If you move within the state of Texas, you do not have to file a change of address form with the ATF. However, they would like you to do so.

You may have items in other states. The proper forms must be filed with the ATF allowing travel out of the state in which the trust has its Situs (generally this is the address on the form 1 or 4).

The trust, like a corporation, may operate in multiple states. When operating in a foreign state, the trust must observe that states laws. The trust may also permanently change its Situs to another state. If the trust does that, it essentially becomes a creature of that states laws and must follow and conform to that states trust law.

Are you a supporting member here on Snipershide? If not you need to contact Lowlight if you want to continue to try and provide your services here

Good that's the least you can do for what you whack
People for a simple document.

aaah, you didn't get me to leave and I gave some correct advice that you were incorrect on and now the butthurt shows. Are you going to throw some personal insults my way?

seriously Cheshire, we can help a lot of people here or you can go down the path that you just stepped on.

I am not going to debate you or have an internet spat on the internet with you. I am too busy answering trust phone calls and answering questions about trusts, silencers and Texas trust law.

So have a nice day.
