I'm looking for a .308 rifle that I can use for long range shooting and some hunting. The rifle will be run suppressed. Weight is a concern but so is cost.

The way I see it I can get a Remington 700 AAC-SD and put a Manners MCS-T with a mini chasis.

I recently started looking at the Tikka T3 and was not sure if this would be a viable option as well. It already comes with a detachable magazine. How does this rifle compare to the AAC-SD? If I do go with this rifle, does the stock need to be changed? I really like manners stocks and I know they make stocks for the T3. Could I have them inlet a MCS-T for the Tikka?

Heres the rifle: http://www.tikka.fi/t3models.php?ctr

Thanks,

Is that a new model? Do they sell it in the US? Tikkas are awesome They are all accurate, have great triggers and 70 degree bolt lifts. A Remington 700 might be accurate. It might come with a good trigger. It will not have a 70 degree bolt lift. Remington quality control is kind of spotty. Some are good some are not.

Manners will inlet for the tikka but you'd have to get it bedded they don't make the mini chassis for it.

If the magazine system on the Tikka is adequate I dont think I would need the mini chasis, would I?

I don't know if the tikka magazine system could be made to work with an aftermarket dbm or not. It likely could. Most guys who switch to different stocks ditch the factory mags and go with a bottom metal that uses AICS mags.
