Well this last year was not good for me when it came to my health but I'm alive kicking and shooting. But i've had to go threw some eye surgeries and just got done fighting the swine flu so the pocket book has been beat up and ran over. But i'm greatful that I have a full time job with insurance to help but i've found myself needing just a bit of extra cash so I was wondering if anyone out here has any ideas?

well, let's start with what do you do for work?

i own a tree service and every once in awhile my guys will pick up a side job with friends/family, etc. i let them borrow my equipment, they just have to bring the truck/chipper/saws back full of fuel.

they also split and deliver firewood that we accumulate over the year on the side as well.

Snow...I know the feeling as Im in more or less the same boat. While I have a home paid for, and some $$$ left in the bank, it seems all my investments are going to shit. At 20 or 30 that's not so daunting but after 60 I just don't want to be picking up heavy objects for a living (stonemason). Ive been trying to think of some simple little thing that I could do on line. Crap, $100 a day, 3-4 times a week would look great now.

Now they want us to pony up at least $100 a week for some dumb assed healthcare plan. Just where is that supposed to come from if your not working?

Good luck.

I do glass for a living so if it has glass I do it. And yeh this health care crap is killing me with it i'm screwed without it i'm screwed but what do you do I just shake my head and laugh.

Get a part time job at Lowes or Home Depo. Your in the trade and they like that.

I have a granite shop also corian and laminate counter tops.. for extra money I install cabinets, build cabinets, make 1911 grips some of witch I sell on here, I make display cases, furniture basically any thing wood work related.. I'm the only income in a family of 5 so sometimes it can be stressful but my wife is excellent with the kids so she is better of helping to guarantee well rounded kids the only down fall is parting with finished products

I build distributed cloud based call tracking/call recording solutions, PRI/Analog/VOIP recording solutions, and custom telephony applications for businesses. On the side I do the same thing but on an individual basis.

Do some shooting lessons with youngsters if you have place to do it and if your qualified with the basics! Grown ups as well!

I will probably start a thread and post some pic's after I finish the next set I'm working on something that is sick

Along the same lines as Glass. I had a guy come buy once and asked if I needed any screens replaced and I happened to have a screen door the dogs tore up.
It's been along time ago and I think the guy charged me $20. He supplied the screen.

I have often wondered how much that guy made in my neighborhood that day.

Where in Idaho are you?

There used to be an Old Fart that replaced screen here in my town.
He had a big piece of plywood in the back of his pickup and all the right tools. Three rolls of screen that were on rollers and a roll or 2 of special stuff.
The plywood was set up to hold the frames and he went to town on it.
I used his services every year and need them now.
Alas, he took the checkered flag and there is no widow or I would be after his stuff. Parked in a garage waiting for his kids to get Divine Intervention and move their bowels I guess.
It is a good bag. Regards, FM

You could put a add in Craigs list offering your Glass services. Free quotes to replace broken/chipped/cracked glass. There may be some people out there who have broken coffee tables or cracked panes and they do not know where to get them fixed.

Knew a guy who got laid off from his job. He started going to garage sales, buying junk and selling it on e-bay. Did pretty good, good enough that when he was called back to work he couldn't afford to get up his e-bay gig for his old job.

I was thinking about getting something part time like lowes and what not but thats just not going to be in cards right now. The doctors here found out that my left eye has started to dye and they cant save it so they gave up but I did find a doctor in Salt Lake City that says he thinks he can save it so due to travel and all that a part time job just isnt in my time frame. So I think I might try the look for junk and resell it online.

Snowdin, tell me us a little bit about where you live, population etc. their are some good ideas on here but with a little more knowledge we may come up with some that might better suit you and your situation. Sorry to hear about your eye problem and I hope they save it for you. Mark.

Honestly, a good part time job would be delivering pizza. Most drivers make tips, but it averages 50-100 bucks a night. Sometimes you even get lucky and work for a shop with their own cars so you aren't putting miles on yours.

Well I live in Idaho Falls the population is roughly 50,000 I would probably try the screen thing here but its winter but I will try it when spring comes around. I've been thinking about building a few ar lowers and flipping them but not to sure if the $$$ is there does anyone on here know. As far as part time job I just dont have the time to comite with having to go out of state on a drop of a hat for doctors. Plus I'm an officer in the masonic lodge, York Rite, and Shrine Club and having a full time job that works around all this time is thin. But heck if I could knit dragbags and make $$$ I would.

Think of something you love doing and go for it. Something with or in the shooting arena. I know you have a lot on your plate with your eye situation. Remember in the big picture that friends , family and relationships are all that really matters. I pray for you and hope your surgery goes well. Take care of your situation and when your able you will find something for part time work. Keep us posted on how you are doing and how your surgery went. God bless you! Mark Williams. Ps. I want dibs on your first drag bag when you do them!
