Hello,

My dad has this scope laying around and he wanted me to sell it for him. However, I don't know too much about this scope. I just wanted to ask the Hide for some insight before I create a for sale thread.

What is a reasonable asking price for this scope?

Thank you for your time.

Not exactly the same thing. You are comparing a cheap Chinese made scope to what may be an original scope made in the US.

OP, you may have better luck finding an accurate answer on a forum that specializes in M14 rifles.
If this is, as th sticker implies, a US made ART II scope and mount, it would generate SIGNIFICANT interest in someone building an M21 replica.

You are correct if it is an original but I never saw sticker on them . I remember seeing them.

His dad must have some info on where he bought it and when.

These guys would know.

You are a lucky man sir. I consider the ART line of scopes one of the most creative and brilliant ever designed. Given the high prices on the used market I must not be alone in that. Someday maybe I will have one.

Looks like a Springfield Armory (Ill) civi ART II from the 80's. They are Not the same quality of USGI units. I've used USGI Leatherwood Partners, Art 1's and 2's, the civi versions are below USGI performance, for sure. Not a bad scope for a M14 but far from the best.

I attempted to google more info on this scope and I believe it's not the GI issued scope as stated above. The scope was purchased from a small shop that is no longer in business so I can't contact them for more info.

I have no use for this scope and I dont know if I should tell my dad to keep it or sell it. I also do not have the hard case that most of these scopes came with so I know that lessens the overall value as well. Even though it's the civilian model, what would be an appropriate asking price for gunbroker/armslist/eBay?

I emailed "Iron Sight Inc" to see if they can give me more info as well. I will report back with what they say as soon as I hear back from them.

Thank you to all of those that have chimed in.

There are some people over on M14forum that would probably know a pretty good amount about that scope.
