If you could only pick one.....

  • 3.5-10x40 TMR M3 Illum
  • 4.5-14x50 TMR M1 Illum
  • 4.5-14x50 TMR M3 FF non-illum
  • 4.5-14x50 TMR M5 FF non-illum.
Ancient Mayan technology... ya, I know it's 2014 and still like the M3's. Go fucking figure.....
Least these're made in USA.

Remmy 700 & AR10 (.308) swap around to both.
Out to 800 under most light/weather conditions with old eyes.

General usage.... Whatever comes up, hunting, steel targs, etc. no competition.

Obliged!

Prices? There is a used mark 6 in the FS section for 1600$ and Scott has a couple on sale for 1750$. I imagine a good bit over the mark 4 but man they would be perfect for an AR10

If i had to choose from the above it would be the MK4 4.5-14x50 TMR M5 FF non-illum.

I know man..... Really want the MK6 TMR.
Unfortunately got poor man's pockets - but blessed with the MIL/LE discount at Luppy.
Choices listed are barely within budget.

I heard Leupy has a nice military discount for the Mark 6? I imagine it only brings to around 1500 at the very best. So probably not anywhere near what your getting the mark 4 for. I would opt for the mark 4 4.5-14x50mm with the M5 turrets.

Appreciate the replies.

Damn shame the M5 don't come in the illuminated variety.
M1 SFP is the only one that lights up.

The Mark 6 is a couple of hundred more than that, but both scopes are on the LE/MIL list. The Mark 4 w M5 turrets is still $600 below the Mark 6.

I would prolly go with the later option as well for a bolt gun. It's the only one that has turrets that match the reticle. Option one is a very nice setup for ARs.

Are you trying to shoot the smallest group possible? If you are, I'd go with either option with M5 knobs.

Probly not much group shooting other than load testing or for fun. Would opt for the 6-20x or 8-24 for that.

The numerous Mil/Mil combo suggestions got me thinking the G2DMR should be added as an option now.

Are you considering bushy? Leupy doesn't offer the G2DMR reticle that i know of, though that would be outstanding.

Ya that would be great. Or the MSR!
Originally was set on one of those Luppys ...... but the Bushy 3.5-21 g2 hdmr might be an option now. It's actually a bit less expensive.

If you're looking at Bushy, check with Scott at Liberty Optics and see what he can do for you, if he doesn't have anything going right now and you're eligible for Promotive (which you should be if you have Fed/Mil on Leupy) then check out Bushnell's Promotive deals. There's one well within Mk4 price-territory.

Given the feature set id take an HDMR over a mark 4.

From your list... 4.5-14x50 TMR M5 FF non-illum.
If wanting Leupold, and you're on the FED/MIL program, I'd go Mk6 over the Mk4 and spend the extra cash - it's worth it.
The current cost increase has pushed the Mk8 off my list...

You can get a ERS very cheap through promotive. That's what I'd go with.

I don't see the "ERS" offered on Promotive, only the "Elite Tactical 3.5-21x50 Riflescope". Do you have a cooler Promotive than I do dammit??????????

Agreed. I have an old Mk4 M1 and an HDMR and there's really no comparison, but the OP would need to decide how important the illum is to him.
Really, that much better? Never had a chance to get behind one and probably won't unless I buy it........ Can they take an ass-kickin' like a Leupold?

The Bushnell Elite Tactical G2 3.5-21x50mm (ET35215G) is available on Promotive at a little bit cheaper than the listed Leupold choices.

The only features more appealing on the Bushy are the 21x magnification and the G2 reticle - Wish the TMR had a 10 mil vertical lower.

Agreed about Scott, just got my mark 6 from him.

If you can get the ERS for the price of the mark 4 or lower due to promotive, it's a no brainer. G2DMR reticle, Locking turrets, Zero Stop, bulletproof warranty, FFP, greater magnification range. Only sacrifice will be weight. If Scott didn't have such a great deal on a mark 6 at the time i would have a ERS here. I still want to try one or an HDMR.

Mark 4 Leupolds - Pick one.....

No ERS available on promotive.

Only the base model 3.5-21 ... 5mil elevation, no zero stop. The Bushnell deal caps at a certain price point and the ERS is above that.

I'd be embarrassed to ask a vendor to match the LE/MIL deal but if close enough, id give them my biz for sure.

Id probably still say give Scott a call he's a great guy and if he can't do anything at the moment i say go for an HDMR at discount price if it's good. That scope just has a better feature set than the mark 4s IMO. No zero stop but still I think you'll enjoy it. I can't comment on the glass quality but they have a solid reputation as far as reliability is concerned.

Then again you might just want to stick with the leupy. Which ever saves you the most money both will work
