hey all,

was wondering if anyone had any idea of how to get a lucas bore guide for my .308. i have emailed mike twice and not heard anything at all in response, and cannot seem to find them for sale anywhere. i found a post of a store that supposedly had them but when i called it ended up being the colorado state university number haha.

thanks
phill

Interesting, I just got mine for my 6.5creed two weeks ago. Mike emailed as it was sent out. He was always within a day on email responses. Maybe he is on vacation?

thats the address i used and still havent heard anything, sent him an email earlier today, will let you know what happens

His bore guides are very well made and custom fit your chamber perfectly.

You will need to let him know caliber, make of action, and cleaning rod type/size you intend to use.

Send your $70 and you will receive your guide in 4 weeks.

i emailed him at that address and he has not responded at all, i even put the subject line as "bore guide" and "info on bore guide order" havent heard a thing

Benchrite Professional Shooting Equipment

I had no luck trying to get ahold of Mike Lucas before either and then found this site and talked to Steve (260-456-6809 home, 260-403-3789 cell) great guy and got me everything I wanted/needed for my .308 including special ordering me a guide and rods for my Rem 700BDL .17cal.. Give him a call he is a small business catering to and supporting the shooting people.

Hope that helps,
Dave

Stop wasting your money and get a possum hollow bore guide. Or get the Sinclair which is the same.

You clearly dont know how a Lucas Bore Guide works.

The possum or sinclair are not true bore guide, but just, at best, a chamber protector.

Hey guys. Thanks for the help I called and talked to bench rite and my Lucas bore guide is in the mail

Good deal. I was really happy with him and everything I ordered arrived on time and packed to survive a bomb blast.

If someone hears from Mike, please let us know; just making sure the man is OK. On another hand, OP is of friday 2/7 and today is Sunday 2/9; maybe a bit too early to send S&R to his front door.
Mike's bore guides are top, got a few of them and getting ready for another.

With the OP not getting responses and others getting them, sounds like it might be an email SPAM filter SNAFU on one end or the other.

So, are the rod guide size options through Benchrite all the same options available through Lucas himself? What I mean is, is a .30 cal rod a .30 cal rod, or would I possibly get a more correct fitting insert if I specify ".30 cal coated Dewey rod", as opposed to another manufacturer's rod? I was under the impression these guides were very specifically tailored to your action and rod, yet the options on Benchrite don't seem that particular.

Good question; got mine directly from Mike and needed specific dimensions for fat 338LM rod (Montana X-Treme). Not a problem, fits like a glove but I did send Mike all specs.

I would call Steve and talk to him he can answer all your questions and explain why Mike sometimes (most of the time) dosen'y or can't respond to inquires. He orders all bore guides according to your action (at least I told him what mine was) and the one he special ordered (.17cal, the big one not the 22lr neck down) he had to have Mike specially make it. Steve is a long range shooter and knows what you will need and is a really nice guy. He also goes to the Long Range comp.'s as does his partners and shoots.

Made the mistake once getting the Lucas. For the money, possum hollow has the same tight fit. Paying extra for the machining and holder for your rod, I'd rather get three Possum's for one Lucas. I would just rather spend my money on ammo and glass.

Mike answered my email in less than 12 hours. I am on my 7th nore guide from him and couldnt be happier.
