what would you pay for the 525 federal brick of .22lr ammo in the usa. in the uk here its costing £30 - $48

Walmart is currently selling the Federal Champion 550 round bricks for $24 (£14.63) and Bass Pro Shops are selling the Federal 525 round bricks for $23.50 (£14.32). They haven't been in stock for a long while but I still wouldn't pay $48. For that much you might as well be looking for better quality ammo than bulk pack.

Federal Champion (510B I'm guessing), $24.00 for 550 rounds,,, I'd do that. My Marlins love this stuff. I wouldn't pay $48.00 for 550. I'd add a few dollars to the $48.00 and get a brick of better quality ammo.

I bought actual bricks of CCI SV recently for about $40 US, last time I bought Federal (as in actually saw some) I paid around $25 I think, around March 2013.

Thanks for the replies- those or the remington target are about the cheapest currently available here in the uk (northern ireland to be exact). the better quality ammo would be costing in the region of £40-£60 a brick. weve been told by dealers to expect hefty increases when the next batch arrives from the states. there is not so much hoarding goes on over here as you limited to the amount of ammo in each caliber you can hold and every ammo purchase is documented on your cert, so there is always a supply of rimfire fodder. but the reloading supplies from the likes of sierra and hornady are in short supply.

I would not be surprised to wake up some day and find the same thing enacted here in the USA. This would not surprise me at all.

What would I pay or what are people trying to sell it for?

.22 rimfire has to be going out the door of the manufacture at there Usual Market Price sold to large retail . I religiously buy a Brick or two of lowgrade Rem. high-vel. every month or 2 for a Price Gouging ( 18-$ a Brick ) and my local brick & mortar Retail is making a profit on it .

.22lr It's getting sold retail for ' what the market will bear ' Retail Gougers & the Flea Market, internet & Gunshow tables Gougers are marking-up 2- 3- 4+ times . because It's a sellers market .
What I want to know is 'where and who' is warehouse Hording all the pallets of that cheep-ass Mexican Aguila .22 that was and is still being mass produced ???
.

To OP, I would hope that in the UK, you could get Eley for a decent price since it is not being shipped half way round the globe. It is better ammo by far.

you would think that but its not the case the eley is 1.5 times the price of its american counterparts, for higher volume rifle plinking & pistols (yes its hard to believe here in northern ireland with its past its the only part of the uk you can still legally buy and shoot a pistol) most use the american rimfire ammo.

In USA, I have been able to get Federal std vel for $24.70/brick. Aquilla HP's for $64/brick. SK Std+ (Lapua) $67/br, Wolf MX $100/br, Eley Edge is $110/br, Eley Black was $132/br, and Tennex is $174/br. Midas+ running about the same as Tennex. I did not buy all these. But I have bought bricks of Eley Black, Wolf, SK, and Midas+ in the last year.

My wife bought a brick for $225 at the Sportsman's Warehouse in Casper..............they did throw in a 10-22 to sweeten the deal.

They hold back 22 ammo for those who buy 22 rifles/pistols.

(Damn trigger for the 10-22 cost more then the gun)

Anyway I can't complain, on the same trip she got me the sweetest Lab a man could ask for. Took us a pair of seconds to bond.

The people from the CMP hitting the Shot Show Ammo suppliers report that ammo/component prices will be going back to normal. Except 22s, the supply would come back but prices are going to be higher then pre-drought prices.

The down side, the war on fossil fuels is going to send transportation prices up.

A guy at work was telling me that at a gun show last weekend they were selling bricks for $98 a piece. And people were actually buying it. What's wrong with people? Eventually they will come back in stock just like the 223 ammo has. I wish I had more than I do. I'd sell some for $98 to some idiot willing to buy it. CRAZY!

You pay to play, that's the market right now.
I don't see that changing any time soon.
Too many, new, small caliber shooters.

22LR ammunition. The industry as a whole (all manufacturers combined) is setup to produce 4,200,000,000 (4.2 Billions) .22 LR annually. That is running all the machines, full capacity all the time, all manufacturers together.

There is NOTHING they can do to produce more.

That corresponds to 230,137 cartridge per State per day, which is 460 bricks of 500 .22lr per day per State. That means that if less than 50 people per day in each State are buying 10 bricks of .22, it is enough to dry up the entire supply as it is being manufactured.

Redandwhite: define "eventually". And why call someone you don't even know an idiot. I have boxes of 22s labelled .96 and I'd bet my next paycheck that you don't have any of those. Does that make you an idiot? Of course not! Grow up!

Really man, I wasn't looking to start a fight with anybody. And how long ago did you buy those for .96? All I was saying is you can stand in line at walmart (every Saturday morning at my walmart) and still get them for $21 or whatever their price is. It's not smart to pay almost 5 times that for something you could get if you stood in line for.
I meant eventually as in look at the 223s. They were out of stock for a long time everywhere. Now they are on ever shelf in every sporting goods store.
I'm no one to judge who spends what on anything. I've made and still make my fair share of bad financial decisions. I'm only saying.

Redandwhite, I see no reason to back down on your statement. Anyone willing to continue to pay 4-5 times retail price for something is a blithering fucking idiot, plain and simple!

Lmao. I really wish I had more than the 4 bricks I have. I'd like to sell them for $70-$100. Me, I'm willing to wait for them to come back. I rarely shoot the 22. I shoot my 308 and 300 rum more.

In 2013, I was only able to find 3-333 sealed tins of Federal 22 ammo. This year following gunbot, I've picked up about 2K rounds at normal prices, decent shipping also.
So the boys I buy for are set come nicer weather.

We've all here on this site pointed a finger at CTD for their prices, I'd like to add a few more I'll never buy from;
Goose Island
Trop
Eagle Eye Guns
iammo
Surplus Ammo

This shit went too far.

I have first crack at Federal hp bricks arriving Monday, $40. I made peace with paying a little more than I like for now. Dealer is a friend, I can buy as many as I want/need, so I won't balk at the price.

CCI Standard Vel / Green Tag are here in WVa in stock, selling for $9/100. That's $45 for 500.

Skip the Federal / Wallyworld bulk pack crap.

I don't use mine for anything but screwing around. I don't need anything more than the walleyworld crap. If I was coon hunting or something it'd be a different story.

Not much in stock in our area (SE TN). Picked up a 525 pack of Remington at the local Sportsmans Warehouse for abt. $23 about two weeks ago. LGS say they are getting it in, but it continues to go out about as fast as it gets in.....

Jsragman...he just proved my point. It's out there for regular price. There's no reason to get gouged over it. So wether getting gouged paying $70-$100 a brick makes people an idiot I guess you can decide. But when it's on every street corner for $40-$50/brick, I still say your an idiot spending almost $100/brick.

Get a bb or pellet gun. do they still make cap guns

Im going to Sask, CA in May. How much can be brought back to the USA if i were to buy bulk .22 up there?

Last gun show that I attended, 22 bricks were cheaper from small vendors then the large ones. Just walk around and there's some great prices on the 22 bricks. The lowest I've seen is $65/500. Still high but cheaper then online and then there's the high shipping prices.

I got 3 cases from midway for some good prices (different brands though). You just have to stay vigilant.

None. You need a possession and accusation licence to buy ammo so no licence no buy. If you did however have that you need to fill out the forms for exporting it from Canada and the forms for importing it to the usa.

Local as in Walmart will always be cheaper but good luck finding it at Walmart .17 - 1.17 a round on line and I know that is high but I promise you the price will not go down anytime soon !! buy now!!
