Re: MK12 MOD-0 LETS SEE EM!

Man this ole thread makes me homesick to shoot mine, my mod 0 is truly tied for first place for my favorite rifle to take out shootin, accurate, no recoil, quiet with the ops 12th attached, just a pleasure to shoot

i bought a complete mk12 mod 0 upper with the sights and bolt and all the fixin's and it was right at 2k...like 1998.00 iirc back in 2009.

looking at their site now, it looks like they are 1475.00

sureley they havent dropped 500.00 bucks since 2009.

i was wondering what gives and how they are cheaper if anyone knows.

are the pri uppers comparable with say high caliber or other high end mk12 builders?

thanks,
rob </div></div>

I have two pri uppers and they both shoot! They use douglas barrells, or at least mine are. One of the reasons they are cheaper now is arms doenst make the swan sleeve anymore so everyone is useing the PRI clone sleeve.

Funny. </div></div>

Considering where things are now, how prophetic. I wonder, perhaps, if someone, or some group, didn't figure it out, too?

What kind of handguard and top rail is that? I really dig that look.

Its a PRI Gen III Delta with their proprietary top rail made for the delta forend. The overall look I was going for was an updated MK 12, like where the concept could have gone if they had played out the Mod 0 instead of developing the Mod 1.

You guys are killing me with these sweet Mk12 rifles. I have an AR that is mix match of parts but the only bit of MK12 is the barrel. I am thinkng I may have to build one.

Time to drag this thread back from the dead.

This is what happens when you have lots of spare time, leftover duracoat, and not enough ammo to go shooting with:

8622672045_7213339f8a_b.jpg

It seems duracoat goes on a bit glossy when applied by hand with brushes and Q-tips. I'm thinking it may need a topcoat of flat clearcoat to dull things down a bit.

FMJBT, how did it work out painting the front and rear sights with the duracoat, have all the parts for my build but because of the color variation between upper, lower, pri handguard, arms, rail, sights and brake, I thought I might have to get a nice paint job on her. Would anyone know what the thinnest product is to use, duracoat, cerakote or other., thanks.

I didn't have any issues with duracoating the sights. I was kind of worried about the coating making the sights hard to flip up, but it goes on thin enough that it doesn't seem to impair function at all. Cerekote goes on even thinner from what I've read, although I haven't had a chance to use that stuff yet. For my application I went with duracoat because it doesn't need to be baked afterward. I didn't want to risk melting my rear sight, buttstock, pistol grip and trigger guard.

I might be going to MK12 Mod 0.5...

I'm thinking if ditching my A1 stock for a Sopmod on my MK12 Mod 0 inspired rifle.

I put the MK12 upper on my carbine lower this weekend to give it a try. The BCM gunfighter grip and SOPMOD stock were very comfortable to shoot with.

Your thoughts?

Current State:

2010-07-25%252015.58.27.jpg

WOA Upper / Barrel w/ PRI Tube and ARMS Rail - Assembled by ADCO
SWFA SS3-9 Scope in ARMS rings
ATLAS Bipod
LMT Lower
Hi-Speed DMR Trigger
Fulton Armory A1 Stock
MAGPUL Grip and Trigger Guard

Upcoming Changes:
Replace MIAD grip with BCM Gun Fighter - More vertical angle grip puts my trigger more comfortable on the trigger
Considering changing to B5 SOPMOD stock

FMJBT, thanks for the info, have the parts for my build, but I figured I would get her painted first. I did hear that cerakote went on thinner, so I thinking along those lines.

What is the weight like one these Mod 0s guys? One of my next two build will be a precision 5.56 but I would like to keep the weight down on it.

How do you like the 2.5-10x32? And which reticle did you go with?

It's ok. Not a huge NF fan but it was better than a leupold. Didnt feel like spending more on the correct one. It has the npr-1 reticle instead of a mil dot.

Nexus, Is that a 20" barrel on your Mod 1? I'm trying to decide to keep the 20" barrel for a possible Mod 0 or cut it to 18.

What ever the spec barrel length is. I think it is 18" before the ops inc collar and break.

Question for you guys, I want to build a Mod 0, I have an old 20" CLE USMC Krieger contract service rifle barrel with all the sweet stampings on it. I'm thinking about having it cut for the build, but the sniper clone builder in me is screaming NO! I thought about a SAM-R build, but the problem is the front site flats milled into the barrel. PRI has the gas block for the MOD 0 that uses the flats. Any thoughts? Should I cut it?

Gotcha. Very cool.

Aah... One of my favorite threads, nice resurrect VJJ. I'll be bringing mine from a "Mod-Me" to a Mod-1 next month. Pulling the PRS, CQBSS and Atlas in lieu of an A2 stock, Leupold TS-30A2 and Harris on the Knights mount. The extra goodies are going to a 3-Gun build and my 16" .308 I'm finishing up. Maybe one of these days I'll be in the states long enough to start my Ops 12th purchase.

Which knights mount? I have been searching for what mount and I keep seeing the arms #32 mount is used. Did they also use a knights?

Anytime bro, and that photo of the parts sheet is courtesy of ARFCOM. Me personally I prefer to not have QD up front. Fixed mounts are usually a bit more snug against the rails lowering the center of gravity and making for less stuff to catch the brush.

Hey guys, I have gotten this MK12 bug from this thread! Anyway, I can up with a parts list for a Mod 0 and Mod 1 and was wonndering how correct it is. I want it to look authentic , however it doesn't have to be exact, so I figure I can go with different upper, lower, bcg, etc. What do you think "makes" the look?

I know I get an F for incomplete, but I'm working on it as funds come in slowly.

Next purchase is an optic as function comes first and I shoot a lot of matches with it. After that I'll switch out the brake and other details, then maybe the ops can.

Can we throw a mod 1 in here so that all you mod 0's can feel better about yourselves?

Going to try to get rid of my Leupold fixed 10 with badger rings in favor of a horus reticle.

Man, after a week on barfcom reading the mk12 thread, and looking this one over, several of these pics seem oddly familiar!

Beautiful rifles. If I could quit doing so many other builds, I'd probably get around to doing one of these.
