Now that these rifles have been out for a few years what do you guys think of them? I'm just looking to add a high quality accurate ar platform to the stable. Probably smoke some coyotes with it and maybe get involved with some 3 gun if my work schedule ever permits. I can get this rifle for $1600 NIB and at that price it seems like a great value. I have looked at other brands Daniel Defense, Wilson Combat and without spending a considerable amount more it seems others are on par with features and quality. The final straw for me was simply the Colt name for the resale value factor. I would like to think that i will never have to part with any of my guns but i try to treat each one as an investment. Are their points that i am missing? Am I just hiding behind the Colt logo? I am ready to pull the trigger on something but I havent even fired one and was looking for first hand opinion rather than reviews that may be paid for by the gunmaker. Any opinion is welcomed.

Just picked one up a month or so back and really like it. Been so damn cold here have only had a chance to sight it and adjust the gas system but it really does seem to cut the recoil. I was shooting it along with a 18" BCM and it was noticeably softer shooting. Seemed to be accurate and can't wait to get it out and give it a real test.

Thanks bigohio. I have heard all good things but you never know what is just fluf. I think I'm going to pull the trigger tomorrow. Just giving it one more day to make sure I will be happy.

Just FYI, the Colt CRPs are not the same as Colt, in fact not even made in the same factory. The have a license for the Colt name. The 18" Colt CRP is more comparable to a JP than a Colt.

That said, they are going to be softer shooting, and more accurate than any Colt. I had one on my stage at the Crimson Trace Match shooting onto 2 MGM swingers. With 50 different people on the rifle, on the clock, with a NV scope, the group could have been covered with your fist. The are very accurate.

I'd buy a dozen at $725.

I also would buy several. Thanks for the reply mark. I already ordered one at $1575. If I'm missing out on a $725 deal I'll buy 2 more. Lol

Mark you seem to know a lot about them. Is the company where they are made called Bold Ideas? It's a rumor I heard.

I don't know that I have ever heard that name, but I did see it on their website just now. I do know several people who work at the company, in fact one of them was one of my ROs on the CTC stage, so yes, I learned a lot. They were in the Pacific NW and moved to Texas last year.

the 2013 bolt ideas Colts are 699.00 dealer cost the 2014 are higher however. I bought mine for 754.00 and it is a terrific little gun.

I can believe that their "Sporting Rifle" versions could be under $800, but we are not talking about those, that have an MSRP under $1K, we are talking about their higher end Pro 18 with an MSRP of $2K.

Well I posted this pic in the new for 2014 thread also but I finally got my CRP 18 pro.

Like I said in the other thread you will have to excuse the cheap barska I'm not sure what optic I will be going with and wanted to shoot it today.(yesterday)

Ive put about 250 rounds through it yesterday. Flawless operation. I like the adjustable gas system. Very soft shooter. I really like the Geissele trigger! Waiting to put it on paper until I get a real scope. This being my first AR(except for a bushy that I sold 2 mo after I got it) all of my rings/mounts are LOW for various bolt guns in my collection. I have never been a fan of ar's in general but they have finally hit a soft spot with me. Thinking of getting a burris xtr 1-4 1gen combo with the reflex sight and ditching the PEPR mount for a warne ramp mount with the 45* rail for the reflex. Just throwing that out there in case I'm considering total crap.

Ditching the pepr mount will be a smart move . Burris makes nice stuff but the pepr mount is not one of them. Just my opinion from personal experience .

All of my Burris optics sit in a Warne SKEL mount or a JPRifles mount.

If you are going to run a 1-4, the reflex does not get you anything except a worse cheek weld.
