I am tossing around ideas for aftermarket sights for a new 17 I picked up. I have run 10-8 sights and liked them but keeping my options open. Thoughts?

It will be a work gun. So sights need to be versital and tough as nails
I have some Ameriglo i Dot pro's on my G30. I love them. Quick and easy to use. I have the Green front yellow rear with the orange front outline.
Heinie Rear and Dawson FO front. Fast and easy to use.
Great for competition, that's what I ran when I shot for Glock. As for duty use though, I prefer the Trijicon HD's. I say go with what you like. There are a lot of great sights out there.

I've been VERY pleased with the Heinie Ledge sights, trijicon insert front and rear. Front sight dot is larger Metal body sights, aggressive ledge for 1-hand manipulation, super quick and easy to pick up in any lighting condition. Has narrow front sight/wide rear notch, so a bit more information in the sight picture.
I run these on my duty guns/teaching recruits/shooting schools. Other options listed by people above me are all good too. Big thing is getting a metal/steel body .

Might sound hokey, but I really love an XS big dot up front with any steel rear sight - filed out with a 1/4" round file. Kinda like a half-ghost ring and bead.
I run Truglo TFO's. I like them a lot.
Shot or owned them all. Only place getting my money is heine strait 8s. The guns that have others are either factory nights or i installed them before i realized how much better i liked the heinies.
I have these on all of my Glocks. With the metal housings, they are much more durable than the original models.

For a work gun, night sights are a must IMHO. I've been pleased with Glock branded night sights, however I haven't tried many others.
I have had great luck with both Meprolight, and Trijicon sights. I prefer the rear sights with a squared off front edge so I can use it to rack the slide one handed during malfunction drills if necessary. The rear sights with the nicely sloped front don't allow me to perform this malfunction drill.
Sure it is hard on the finish of the pistol, but I see it a tool, and if I need to clear a malfunction by smacking the magazine on my knee, and rack the slide by catching the front edge of the rear sight on something, then I'll do it. Sort of a one handed way to do the tap/rack assess drill.

I have Ameriglo Operator yellow/green sights on all of my carry Glocks.
I was thinking of getting some Truglo TFO's for my G19. I like how visible they are during the day. It is really in your face bright. You cant miss with those. I have Mepro and Trij on several others and during the day they pretty much just look like semi-white dots. TFO shouts, POA POI!
Now I am wondering if I should go with the yellow/green sight combo. Rear sight is yellow and front is green. Decisions decisions...

Just got finished running my first PRS match and they had pistol in it. Ran my G19 with TFO's and have to say it was awesome! I found them to be very easy to get on target.
Thanks for the heads up! I have a bad habit of not cleaning my guns much anyways!

10-8 sights are my favorites.
I use fixed Trijicon sights on 4-5 of my Glocks, been using 'em for over a decade now. Good 'ole green, they last a long time and if installed properly they can be dead on. Trijicon is my go-to company for night sights, unless they don't make what I need. The other two Glocks, they have Meprolight green tritium adj. target sights. These things are really nice --regular target sights by day, night sights after lights out. I use 'em on my 17L and 20.
They're both good for carry, but the fixed Trijicon sights would be better suited for it. Also, there's the XS Big Dot. One of these days I'm gonna get a couple of those front sights only for a couple J-frames, but I bet they'd be nice as a set on a Glock too.
