Inevitable consequence

Some of the chains around here have the kiosks and people don't use them. Arby's had self order counters 20 years ago and it bombed. Personally I hope it works out.

Those wanting 15 bucks an hour do not realize a fast food job is just entry level. If they want to make better wages they need to step up. Most have no clue as to what the expenses for any business are. When you show them the raw vs net numbers some understand, but even then the dreamers can't grasp the economies of just investing vs all the headaches involve.

This should do wonders for the un employment rate.

you aint seen nothing yet... the new tech that's coming out is going to decimate jobs - truck drivers - bye bye, waiters - bye bye (glorified bus boys will take their place), grocery/banking cashiers - bye bye, and that's just what I can be bothered to type about. Banks are going to lay off 10'sKs of folks around infrastructure, IT, Security as cloud takes hold. You a private IT security contractor? Bye bye...

I've read some of the posts saying you don't need a college ed etc. They may true, but what you DO need in the coming economy is some serious self-motivation, capital, people skills extraordinaire and developed skill set in your industry of choice. Looking back on my own career, there's no way, if I started today, I'd be where I am with the same level of low skills. My learning curve was way to shallow and I fucked around too much. AI, Machine Learning, ubiquitous connectivity are going to bring home the tech efficiencies that we've all been hearing about for so long. Even porn will go the way of CGI and VR.

Even dog walkers are at risk (seriously, I've heard the investment pitch for an automated solution...)

Salary workers are the fodder class... take it from someone who sits in on a lot of " 5yr planning" committees. scary stuff, get your kids focused on their future.
