How about reading the RULES there is a novel idea...
you have to be a FULL MEMBER with 100 posts, if you don't have 100 posts you cannot sell unless you pay $20 to get Full Membership

Don't be so sure. This site is a great place for buying and selling quality gear. Its my go-to place and I've had much better luck selling here than listing on social media. You can sell wherever you want, as long as you follow the rules. Facebook groups and Gunbroker have those too.
All this site asks of you is to be a contributing member so the place isn't just filled with random people selling their junk. It also protects members from crooks creating a account and ripping someone off.

Yes Dealers have an Orange Account if they are correctly signed up as such ...
We have always had commercial sales accounts on here, as dealers are unique vs individual sales. If you are a dealer not paying you will be removed.
The deal with Scout was, they had no concept of Commercial Sales, and finally at the end they compromised with the $499 account, but ours was always much more than that.
This is not the Scout site, SH existed 14 years before Scout and the 2 years there don't amount to shit. So we look at it as an bad hair day lasting too long.

Met a ton a cool folks in the process. I didn't blow a lid over thinking I was entitled to do shit. I could care less where I sell things. But as seeing how great the first few sells went, I decided to make SCOUT, at the time, my go to place to sell things. Anyways, frank should be along shorty to tell me no one gives a fuck what I think or do.

I'm a noob here and I signed up on the Scout site just before it went sideways (publicly anyways, I can't speak to what/how long it was going on behind the scenes) a month or so ago. I had to exhibit a bit of patience because I was oblivious and didn't understand what the hell was going on. The more I read here, the more I started to understand the history, where the site had been and where it was going. I also came to understand who's site this really was and I also came to UNDERSTAND and APPRECIATE what a bunch of shit storms the owner and mod's have to constantly put up with and deal with. And, that's under the best of circumstances. From what I have seen, the "Scout" and the associated "CBS connection" influence have just been a complete barrel of laughs for the headcheese(s) of this site to deal with. And, it doesn't sound like it's over. What fun to be had for all....Haysoos Christo.
Anyway, I think I've got 70 to 80 percent of it figured out and I learn more every day. And, with no offense intended to anyone, there's someone on this thread that is taking themselves and their wares for sale WAY too seriously. I managed to figure out how to sell as a noob on this site and I probably smooshed a toe on the way, but it happened out of innocent ignorance. I can't imagine being the owner or Mods on any website. It must be like having to constantly discipline kindergartners, or herding cats. My conundrum is that I'm not sure if I was a cat or a kindergartner.
From my vantage point, this site is in a very positive re-positioning process. There are a lot of people here that have many great things, ideas, knowledge and experience to offer. Is the site perfect now ? No. But it's going in that direction and will get there quickly. I've already noticed some significant improvements in the last two weeks. And, it's better than most sites right out of the gate. If you don't like something or you see an opportunity for improvement, make a POLITE suggestion to the Mod and give him some time to work on it. Keep in mind that your suggestion may just be one of dozens the Mod receives every day. Changes take time and they take patience.
My suggestion ? Stop being a schmekel, work with the mods as best you can and in particular, show some patience and some class. Me, I'm a guest here. I am not spending ridiculously long days, nights and weekends refining and upgrading the website. In particular, I'm not changing any diapers or changing snot rags and I do not have a sense of entitlement. My newfound realization of what's going on causes me to be more appreciative of those that are working to make this a better site.

Just a quick question. Since the rules have been reinstated (no idea that the 100 post sales was ever gone), will we get the member rating system back. Pretty sure there was a version of SH were we could rate transaction as positive, neutral or bad as well as leave feedback as to why we gave this rating. Both buyer and seller. I found it very helpful in the past and also saved time searching through good guy list.
They don't make it for this version of vBulletin... it stops at Vb 4 and we are using 5.2.6.
Hopefully it will come back, once it does, I will add it, but they currently don't support this version of board.

In the early days this site seemed to have the highest concentration of real-deal shooters on the Internets. Bullshit got you dragged across the bar and thrown out the door pretty fast. As it's gotten more popular I've noticed some familiar faces quietly disappear. And I've noticed a higher and higher percentage of posters asking questions than providing knowledgeable answers.
But it remains, as far as I can tell, the tier-one shooting sports site. Especially for LR and ELR.
Finally, while he, or others, may disagree, it's been my impression that over the years Frank has been genuinely interested in dispelling bullshit and snake oil from the sport. He seems to love his website. And appears to sincerely want it to be a great place for people to hang out and learn. And, I'm pretty sure I've seen him be pretty good natured about some guys yanking his chain. But I don't think I've seen him sit back and smile while somebody fucked with him. That's different. Especially some stranger. What's the difference between yanking someone's chain (joking around) and fucking with them (is that jerking their chain?)? You didn't dare ask "what scope should I buy", "should I buy an AI" or "should I use MIL or MOA". The answers back then would have been "irons", "if you have to ask then no" and "neither".

Agreed! I read and researched here for a very long time before I was "ready" to participate. In the same way that a squadbay or team room has its own attitude, this place did as well. I still remember the first time I was willing to offer a response in a post, and waiting for the thrashing which fortunately didn't come.
As forums go, this place has always been the deep end. On occasion it's been filled with too many of those little fish that swim up your dick hole and thrash new members out of nothing but sheer bullying. At its best this has always been a place where guys who have "done it" have been willing to share their knowledge and bring new members into the fold.
What this place should never be, IMHO, is just another forum where asshats can march in and "kick off their shoes" without paying proper respect.
It seemed that to a degree Lowlight was compelled to tolerate a level of fucktardery on Scout that wouldn't have flown in his own house. We're all happy to be home, but it's also the time where some of the "stress card" kids who joined during our "prolonged bad hair day" as LL put it, need to figure out the rules of the grown-ups' table.

But if you're going to do it, couch it a manner that you would like to hear if you were the recipient. As for me ? you can call me any name you want and there isn't a thing I can do about it. I don't care in the least, I just consider the source. If I'm being criticized in a constructive manner, I actually appreciate the feedback. If someone is just plain bashing me, I tune out real quick like. Not exactly a quadratic equation complicated kind of decision.

My own personal opinion is that it's silly to get upset over some dickhead on a website bashing you. If the website has decayed to that level, either learn to deal with it, or just move on. Oh and BTW, I'm sure everyone has seen a "comments" string on some "news" website where you get 2, 3 or 4 children all throwing temper tantrums and calling each other names. After reading your post I'm not sure I was clear enough. I don't think that; I don't have an issue with anything you said; nor do or did I have any desire to tease, taunt, or troll you. Not even a little bit. I only used your post as an example of something that is positive and constructive, but would have prompted a dozen people to jump all over you keyboard commando style years ago.
