Gunsmithing Problem with my trigger/action

having problems with my sac action / bix n andy trigger.

i went to go adjust my sear engagement due to trigger going off when I slam the bolt handle down.

followed the bix n andy instructions to a T. Very simple... fixed the problem with the action/trigger out of the jae chassis.

my problem is when I go down to tighten my action onto the chassis and go to run the bolt, the trigger half fires. As I move y bolt handle down I can see my firing pin move forward.

-if I move my bolt handle down extremely slowly (I'm talking with extreme care slow), I can ride it down and can pull the trigger with no issues.

-if I loosen either the front or rear action screw the problem goes away.

-if I put finger pressure down on the back of my bolt as I'm cocking, the problem goes away.


Dont know what else else to do, at a complete loss

nothing I do with the sear engagement changes anything. I'm stuck with this problem. I wish I hadn't fucked with it in the first place

Update: kept untorquing and re torquing and finally got it working right and fixed my original problem of light sear engagement.

y worry now is... what the hell happened and how do I prevent it from happening again?

Was there contact inside the the trigger well? Timney/manners mini chassis combos gave me a lot of trouble until I realized the fix

Update: kept untorquing and re torquing and finally got it working right and fixed my original problem of light sear engagement.

y worry now is... what the hell happened and how do I prevent it from happening again?

Might be getting some rear tang flex/distortion.
Bedding the rear tang may be the answer.
I haven't seen the JAE chassis though.

I noticed some "rubbing" contact on my trigger housing assembly. It's in the front corner so I tried to put rear pressure on the action when screwing back in. No go.

i tried putting forward pressure then. No go.

incidentally if I tilt the entire stock forward so it's pretty much pointing at a 45 degree angle down to the floor with bipod extended I can screw the action in and not have problems anymore.

Spent a good while slamming the bolt handle down and trying to get it to go off on it's own. Even tried with an empty case.

So for now it's safe... just want to know what the hell I need to do to fix this. My concern is it getting out of place again under recoil and god forbid cause an ND

With all due respect, it doesn't sound to me like the problem has been fixed at all. I'm particularly uncomfortable with the idea that torqueing/loosening/re-torqueing the action screws fixed the problem. Particularly not with sear engagement/release issues. I'd be willing to bet you have mechanical interference where the stock is hitting the trigger housing in one or more locations. I have seen that happen and that will need to be fixed. The only place where the stock should contact the trigger housing is where the trigger mounts. My suggestion is the send the rifle to a good smith and have him go through it. I have an acquaintance that has a bench gun that I have fired with a Bix'n Andy trigger on it and it's scary light. It's a great trigger, but it is much better suited to the 2 oz benchrest crowd.

threadcutter, I posted in the bolt action section about my problem. (bix n andyread this before buying)

Coincidentally the trigger IS rubbing against my chassis but thats 90% not the cause of the problem based off my discussion with bullet central bix n andy tech

If you've got access to a mill, I'd relieve the contact areas. You may be putting it in a helluva bind when you're torquing it down and not realizing it.
