Any opinions on this Manfroto tripod?

https://www.manfrotto.us/055-carbon-...section-tripod

I'm interested in mounting a set of Swaro SLC's on it and having he option of standing behind it or if RO'ing a match having the option to sit in a chair and rotate the mount 90 deg and have the tripod beside me and a 90 head to rotate the binos back upright. Hope that makes sense but I saw someone RO'in g at he grind in that sort of setup.

Being a Manfrotto it should be good, I have the Alloy 055 and it is a beast of a thing, Only trouble with mine is that it is Silver in colour,

John.

I'm not a huge fan of off center columns, you lose a fair bit of stability that way. The off axis weight starts to act like a diving board and will reverberate if the wind starts blowing. At $500 I'd personally lean towards a traditional no center column carbon fiber tripod like a Feisol or used Gitzo, or if you can swing a few bucks more I've seen used RRS tripods for a reasonable cost. You can still run a traditional style tripod while sitting in a chair, just need to sit forward a bit on the edge of your seat.

For context, the match I shot last weekend had steady 15mph winds and when I wanted to really stabilize the view with my Swaros I needed to rest my elbows on the left/right tripod legs and place my hands on the top of the binos. Even with a rock solid setup you can get vibration and movement with the wind that can interrupt your ability to spot impacts.

Never pay OEM retail!

I have an aluminum and carbon version.... Much prefer the carbon.
I took a Dremel cutoff wheel to the center column and shortened out by about 7".
The Feisol tripods are awesome but $$$

Id already looked on amazon and found that exact add. I just wanted to use the actual website for the photo. Ive saw someone doing it at a match and he said it was amazing! Ive seen him ROing a ton of matches.
