Rifle Scopes Better to have quick ranging reticle or Christmas tree for competition?

Like the title says, I am wanting to buy another scope. I have a Kahles with the SKMR3 in it. I've never done PRS but am interested in doing it. I saw where PRblog said about 5 years ago most competitors were using MSR reticles but that seems to have changed a little. Opinions?

I don't compete but I feel it really comes down to personal preference. I am not a good long range shooter yet, so the tree would benefit me for fast follow ups when I spot my miss. For my traditional shooting, I dial elevation and hold wind so the tree is currently useless.

Kahles SKMR3 is among the more liked reticles available. Something wrong with the Kahles that you're looking for a new scope or just ADD?

What do you mean by "quick ranging"? The L bracket breaking to .1 mil like the MSR or the little lines for like a neck to waist measurement for quick man sized targets? Those little lines getting closer together at the bottom are about useless unless you plan to shoot human sized targets and shooting minute of man. Having a reticle with the lower quadrant hold marks or Christmas tree is far more useful in matches or shooting in general. Having the L bracket is nice if you plan to use the reticle for ranging but some reticles have that breakdown as well as the Christmas tree like the Vortex 2C or 7 reticle. You have .1 mil marks on the outer edges and a the Christmas tree. Also the 7 has .2 mil marks on the horizontal for ease of breakdown.

Ok this helps, so in a course where I have to range targets for distance... Can I be just as quick with my SKMR3 reticle or would I be quicker/more accurate with the small hash marks like you listed above?

I take Shannon's basic weekend course in about 2-3 weeks from now BTW.

SKMR3 is similar to the above EBR-7 Vortex reticle - you've got .2 mil hash across the X and .5 mil hash across the Y. SKMR3 should have .1 mil hashes on both axes at 3 mils as well, versus the .1 mil hashes from 4.5 mils out on the EBR-7.

An L bracket might be quicker, but I haven't tried.
