Some may recall that a good friend moved to Nashville a few weeks ago in pursuit of her dreams of making it in the music industry.
Katie is a singer-songwriter / preschool teacher and is truly one of the most focused and driven young people you'll ever meet.

She competed in the event last week and she fell short in popular voting by just 20 votes. I feel like a little OAF assistance can get her over the top this week, I hope so,

She'll be back tonight to give it another shot, and I am asking you to logon and give her a vote when the polls open. Last week it was around 10 PM.
There's no registration or sign up required. Just scroll to her name and click on it when the voting is opened.

  • Only two performers advance - The judges' selection and the performer with the most votes
Thanks in advance to all who help out!

I tried to log into that one since I don't FB either. When the voting is opened up then you'll be able to open that link. Let's do this.

In the meantime, let's enjoy this timeless classic by Marv Newland. :p

OK. Latest update. She is there, but once again not on the playlist yet. This happened last week too, but she was drawn out of the standby's. Hopefully that will happen again tonight.
I'll update when I know. Thanks for hanging in.

Yeah man. I was going to wait. I'm not uncouth. <---- spell checker saved me on that one.

Uncouth - when my dad was a young man and learning the plumbing trade, he worked on a plumbing truck as an assistant to his older cousin. The older cousin was a true Southern gentleman. Nevertheless, they got into a run-in with an unreasonable customer and when it became clear there was no reasoning with him, the cousin ended the conversation by telling the man he was the most uncouth person he'd ever met. Then he turned and stomped off back to the truck with my dad in-tow. When they got in the truck, the cousin started it up and stared straight ahead for a moment, then turned and looked at my dad. "James," he said. "What does 'uncouth' mean?" My dad replied, "Well, I'm not sure but I think it means you're a son-of-a-b****." His cousin's eyes lit up and he said, "Good! That's exactly what I meant!" Then he drove off happily.

Oops, I'm sorry I've hijacked this thread which has a dedicated purpose. My apologies, but every time I hear that word I remember that story.

Hijack Smijack...

MANY years ago and far away in time and space, I went out to Nashville with my Martin HD 28 to make my fortune. Talked my way into a producers office and played a couple songs for him. I didnt know he was recording. When I was done he played it back and said something like..."I think ya need a bit more practice." IT WAS SO BAD I went home and fortunately, within two weeks someone broke into my home and stole all my guitars and amps. Havent touched one more than a couple time since.

I spent a year there myself. Did a tour or two, even made an appearance on an album. My brother is still a recording engineer there.

That's terrible about your gear!

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

One of the guitars was a PRS Custom one piece top in Whale Blue and bird inlays, a custom Marshall amp by Harry Kolbe, theMaritn, a beautiful black face Fender Super Reverb, etc. I went for the good stuff.

Actually it was a blessing in disguise. I would never had made it and that got me on another track. The insurance co. was really fair and I got top dollar.

I have a ton tied up in high-end gear, too. Although I'm more of a Marshall guy, I do actually have a '65 BFSR as well.

So far the guy from Brazil is hands down the best Ive heard. Great voice and excellent guitar playing. the guy playing now has a nice archtop/F hole. I always lusted over those but the nice ones are made of un obtanium.

I think she's good, perhaps the best of the country I heard tonight. I voted for her because you asked but I still think the most talent over all was the Brazilian guy...but then I like Jazz.

22 to 16? C'mon man !!! This reminds me Seahawks vs Steelers 2005/2006 season !!!!

Rest of you people. Stand down. Stand down for your own good. :p
