Hi all, so I just got a 308 Savage 10PC in a Manners T6A stock (my first experience/first time owning a Manners stock) and I noticed that the rear action screw is different than the front action screw.

I also noticed on the back side of the bottom metal/trigger guard area, that it's protruding out about 1/4"- 1/2" or so out of the stock. Now, I was told that Manners bedded the action to this stock.

My questions are: Will this random/funky rear action screw have any adverse effects holding in the bottom metal, and will it be ok to shoot with it in there like that?

And next, is that little part of the bottom metal that's protruding on the back side a big deal...?

Most of my experience is with gas guns and bolt rifles in XLR Evolution Chassis. This is my first Manners stock and I don't know dick about them and how it should be. Just want to make sure everything's ok before I put some rounds through her. Thanks for your help guys!

You talking about the screw behind the trigger guard?
It is just a screw to secure rear of trigger guard to stock.
Actual rear action screw is under bolt release.
Also rear tang of savage are normally free floated.
    All looks normal to me.

Yes sir, I was referring to that rear screw right behind the trigger guard. Yeah man, I thought that was the rear action screw right there. I just received this rifle lightly used and I don't have much experience with Savages, and zero experiences with Manners stocks, so I just wanted to post my questions here and pick your guys brains.

As soon as I get some time, I'll take the barreled action out of the stock and check this thing out... Familiarize myself with the savage action. Anyways, thanks again steel head!

My Savage 10t looks the same in my t4a. I even sent my rifle to them to fit the rifle to the stock since Savage has so much variation in their trigger guards and actions. It's just the way savage contoured the trigger guard to match the curves of the factory stock. Obviously since I don't have your rifle I can't say for certain but I wouldn't think it needed bedded. They use a mini chassis specifically for the savage actions if I'm not mistaken. Also, just an fyi. The 10 rd scout mags work great in factory bottom metal. Happy pew pew!
