I always thought Dr Seuss was a lefty. I mean the Lorax was a global warming alarmist before there was global warming.

But Cambridge MA apparently is so far left that even a good lefty like Theodore Giesel, a Massachusetts native generally celebrated in the public schools here, is considered a threat.

This crazed Cambridge librarian claims his drawings are of "minstrel stereotypes" racist in their execution. I wonder if she understands Michelle Obama held Dr Seuss parties at the White House.

or Maybe they just hate Trump even if it is Melania and not Donald so donated books in the hopes of providing the kids something to read is now an affront.

This is an ideology on a collision course.

    Shocking (not).

The same librarian sells T shirts.

What do you want people to resist? Why don't you just say it. I bet you would have accepted copies of the Marxist Doctrine.

Terrie Abel Disappointing. Most librarians want children to read, read, read! Dr. Suess is a great children's author. Ms Soeiro should open a copy of Miss Manners.

Read the book "Theodore Geisel and Dr. Suess.."

The man didn't have a racist bone in his body. He was, however, a product of his times.

Brilliant, brilliant guy. If you are in Mass... visiting the Dr. Suess museum at Springfield is pretty neat! And you can go to Mulberry St. and other places that Geisel haunted as a kid!

BTW, Geisel was no lefty. And many people accused him of getting us into WW2, as he pushed hard on an anti-Nazi agenda before the war. He beat the hell out of the isolationists.

For those interested in psychological warfare... he is one of the real legends of propaganda and psy-ops.

But racist... not on your life.

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

I'm more familiar with how the Lorax has been hijacked by the Global Warming agenda priests.

I will say though when I read Horton finds a Who to my kids I thought of Horton as a metaphor for the US and The Who as the underdog with no one to protect him from evil except for Horton/US.

And agreed racist was not on his radar screen but that is what this librarian claims in her letter with his drawings being minstrel. I guess they are a dog whistle.

Perhaps next time I'm in Springfield I'll look up his museum.

That's the "Springfield Museum" a celebration of the city of sorts.

Wanted to see it last time there but spent too much time at the Armory and found a good BBQ place to have a beer and ribs at.

Visited the Indian Museum some 17-18 years ago.

At that time it was stand alone and filled with some beautiful iron.

It was run by an older women, 80s, with some brass.

She had had been riding since the 30s and still owned an Indian Four.

And every thirty seconds or so, she would yell out (Turrets-style) "You aren't Taking Pictures Back There.... No Pictures..." The 'old' Indian Museum was in the building next to the old Rolls-Royce factory. Now Titeflex hose. That building is knocked down (the Indian Factory). Now all in a complex in downtown Springfield. Not far from the Armory. Walking Distance. Both amazing places. The Springfield Armory is a fantastic place to visit. But if you can get into the basement... that's where the good stuff is. The entire US Govt. reference collection of machine guns is down there. The display area is nothing compared to what is below....

There is a great hamburger joint in Springfield, too. Hasn't changed since the '30s. Over the river... on the West side.. Whitehut. Same menu, burgers, fries and shakes since 1939. I mean... the same. It's an awesome place. If you go, order two burgers and three dogs. That will be a lunch.

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

Great thread. Great catch on the librarinazi's 2nd job. Quotes are priceless.
All I can say is, "soon."

    Its a local story.

No surprise the media is leaving out the most inflammatory parts of her screed about racism and how Dr Seuss is "cliche'" instead its all about how the books would be better gifted to a school less privileged than hers - like she is a humanitarian.

I wonder if when she reads The Grinch she recognizes herself.

And every thirty seconds or so, she would yell out (Turrets-style) "You aren't Taking Pictures Back There.... No Pictures..."

After I visited the Indian Museum I read some reviews by others that had visited and I was surprised to see that a few complained about the "attitude of the old lady".

She kind of rolled her eyes when she saw my friend and I on Harleys but in talking to her I realized she was as interesting as the bikes on display. She had been riding Indians since before WWII and had a red Camaro with vanity plates parked beside the museum building.

If people had a problem with her I think it derived from their trying to play subject matter expert or other wise pull the wool over her eyes and she was having none of it.

I remember more about her than I do the bikes. She was impressive. .

    Ohh nooo!

Looks like the librarian is a racist minstrel character POS hypocrite..... article-4934052-44DDFB1900000578-989_308x452.jpg

It would have been more merciful for her to have gone to Burning Man and jump in the fire than to now be exposed for who she is.

I'll read up a little on him when I get a chance. Fwiw, there were a lot of commies that participated in WWII on the side of the us. Fdr admin was full of commies. even some of the a-bomb scientists were dedicated commies. The US was allied with the commies in Europe.

Yes I suspect Geisel was a "benevolent" communist.

A well off guy, kind of embarrassed about how well he lives, probably a generous sort, that believes if the public coffers would contribute the worlds problems could be solved. Its as easy as Horton Saving a Who.

But than the worst parts of human nature intrude and socialism/communism time and time again shows its failings.

Don't get me wrong Im optomistic about the good in people but for some reason history chooses to allow those that have flawed humanity to seek and obtain power. There is more good people than bad people but when the bad get power, their power to do bad is immense. I believe it is a trait of the conservative to see good in people. That is why we recognize the average guy doesn't need government to ride his ass - he will do good without oversight. The liberal on the other hand has the Hobbesian belief that in a state of nature people are nasty and brutish ready to fuck their fellow man - therefore govt must bring order to humanity by decree and if necessary by force.

In my little conversation with some anti Trumpers the other day they pulled what the left thinks is their trump card (no connection to the pres).

"Well look at Sweden, how come they have such great social programs? Why cant the worlds greatest economy do what Sweden does?

At some point these people need an economics lesson, economies of scale, and a thorough understanding of Aesops Fables.

Communism works in highly homogeneous populations with a common value set. It also helps if there is an outside threat or the population recognizes itself as different from what surrounds it. That society likely also has common values and it will shame those that fall outside the value set.

Our country was in a sense founded on Communism with the signing of the Mayflower Compact and the shared struggle at Plimoth. Once that small population became stable and diverse interests developed they turned to a more capitalist economy. Marx had it wrong. The evolution of the economy is not from barter to capitalism to revolution to communism. Capitalism is the more complex higher evolved economy. Going from Capitalism to socialism/communism indicates weakness and decay in society. A symptom of not having enough resources and a requirement to "share".

I couldn't get across to them that what a country of "13 million people" (I was using the wrong figure its actually 10 million) is able to do will not work for a country of 350 million diverse people.

but that went no where with these "benevolent" socialist/communists that felt "if our public coffers just did a little more or we mandated wages for doctors, everything would be perfect".

Lets follow Sweden 5 years from now. Their open boarders policy will be breaking down that homogenous Swedish culture. I don't think the common goals and values are going to be so common and those traits of human nature that Aesop expressed so simply and visually are going to come to head.
