My daughter is just about ready for something more than her CZ452.

The Tikka T3x compact or compact tactical has me interested. She can run my Mausingfield with no issues, but it's a lefty and heavy. I'm planning on 223 so I can just buy some prime ammo for it. I have had Savage's, but I did like the accutrigger. I'm sure there is something with a smoother lift than that. A Remy has crossed my mind also. I want to find something with a smooth bolt lift, and easy to operate safety.

For a factory rifle, the Tikka is about as good as you're going to find. It has a pretty light bolt lift, with very smooth operation. I have a couple of Tikka 223 which I have my kids shoot, and they love them.

I wish I could run one down locally, and see how well it fits, and how she can run it. I'm going to keep my eyes out for one. I'd like to find a T3x compact tactical as it already has a threaded barrel.

I've got a CZ527. It's as heavy to lift as any Mauser. It's a fantastic action, though. I couldn't recommend it more.

I've got a Tikka T3 in the harem as well and have tried others. The bolt lift is very heavy. I doubt a child could work one. The first one I tried was mounted on a tripod in a hog saddle. I lifted the rifle by the bolt handle and bounced it and the tripod off my hand and the bolt didn't think about budging. The chamber was empty. It's another action that I keep hearing is smoothe but is like wrestling a bear.

This is my 5 yr old dry firing one of my Tikkas the other day. CTR on a KRG with Sterk handle, bolt manipulation is a non issue.

Nice! I'll be looking for one. I think I'm going to get her one of the Boyd's AT1 stocks in sky blue, she will have to share it with her 5y/o brother for a couple years until he gets his own.

Nice!

I'm going to see if I can run down both rifles locally and play with them. I think I'm set on the Boyd's AT1 stock. Just need to find some glass now

Seeing as how I just right now checked the bolt lift cocking effort on my Mausers and my CZ527 (mini Mauser), "with the old pinky finger", I'll have to strongly disagree. There's probably a least a 1/4 more force needed to cock a regular Mauser.

One could always polish the cocking piece and the bolt where they ride, and keep them greased.

As far as Tikka at 70 degree bolt throw and the 90 degree bolt throw options, it's no wonder the Tikka takes more force to cock.

The lift on my T3x is quite heavy. Sure it's smooth but still heavy. Not sure I would recommend for a child.

A friends Ruger American and my RPR both have 70 degree bolt lifts like the Tikka. But they are 3 lug actions with dual cocking ramps and are significantly lighter to lift the bolt, even though overall action feel is not as smooth as the Tikka.
