Petro Yaun

China has much to gain, as does OPEC/Russia, if this happens.

If they control the currency they can manipulate the market . The politicians in America sold America to anyone who would write a loan so that they could skim what they could from it .
They are to fucking greedy to patiently fuck the world for power and gain . I see China and Russia as much more patient and willing to .

Fortunately we have a President and his advisors who understand how actual money works, vs it being a concept of how much they can take and redistribute. He's also got the nuts to put the diplomatic and economic squeeze where it's required.

Money on that scale is beyond my thinking, but I did some work for a guy who made his living at it. He was discussing a break from the Petro-Dollar and all the shit it would affect. It made my head hurt.

We would be fucked as the Federal Reserve owns what is left of our gold .

These mother fuckers are just spining you a line.

Gold? You think theres gold left in fort Knox?

Where did Social Security money go?

Where did pension funds go?

Where did that billion dollars in cash sent to Iraq go?

If we wanted a commodity backed currency it seems that plutonium should be the new gold. He who controls the uranium/plutonium rules. Everybody else kneels. Nuke powered battle groups dont need a lot of petrolium.

Provided someone else picks up the tab for the defense of Saudi. The basis for OPEC using US dollars as the petrodollar reference came with a price. I quote...

"The U.S. managed to influence Saudi Arabia to persuade the other members of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to standardize the sale of oil in dollars. In return for invoicing oil in dollar denominations, Saudi Arabia and other Arab states were able to secure U.S. influence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, along with U.S. military assistance amidst an increasingly worrisome political climate that saw the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, the fall of the Iranian Shah and the Iran-Iraq War. Out of this mutually beneficial agreement, the petrodollar system was born."

Other countries (Russia and China) may try to offer their currency but I doubt anything will come of it. The Saudis and the whole of OPEC know how much they have to lose in terms of US military support in an increasingly difficult region.

As I said, this has been going on for years with no change in direction. Zerohedge is notorious for its gloom and doom perspective.

We do not have, nor will we ever have, nuke-powered battle groups.

We have nuclear powered aircraft carriers. However neither the escorts, nor the logistics ships, nor the aircraft that fly from all three of them will ever be.

Our Navy will need shitloads of petroleum for the foreseeable future to continue to operate.

OK, but those plutonium tippe missles make up for it.
