Two are arrested and others being investigated for murdering an Army SF soldier for not being on the take; they were stealing money allotted for bribing informants and he threatened to turn them in. He got choked and murdered for it.

Hard to think of what to say about this. I expected more of them. I know they don't represent the entire outfit, but they do represent their specific group and it was more than one (team, squad, whatever the fuck they call their smaller units). I'm sure this isn't the first time they've done it either, probably the first time they got caught based on their actions. FWIW, this is how the Zetas were formed, rogue SF guys on the take.

Worst I ever did was kick a Navy POG in the back so he fell in the pisser (just because he was Navy I think). I felt bad about it later though.

    Just fucking wow.

And we've been operating a LOT in fucking Africa lately without much talk about it.

Regards zeta and the idea of "just fuck it"......

This is the result of too big to fail. The cancer of letting Hillary slide.

Central Am was a cesspool of corruption, the Zetas just acted in accordance with their surroundings.

Otherwise good people see criminals escape justice because of who they are and next thing you know everyone says "fuck it!"

Two Seals out of an active force greater than 2500... Yes, it's disgraceful. But it's 0.0008 percent...

We aren't supposed to attack gun owners when one does something bad. We aren't supposed to paint all police officers when one (or a few) are out of line.

    Let's not paint all NavSpecWar.

The headline should read "Two shitbags who happened to be Navy Seals..."

Again, where was the leadership? To PM's point... if the culture takes a hit (which is almost always a leadership issue)... then who is to blame? Fat Leonard, ships getting rammed, bad plane maintenance, not enough training dollars, little support for mission...

Not to defend these guys. If found guilty, they should pay like any other dirtbags. But don't call it a Seal or a SF or a military problem. It's a 'people' problem. And some people are just wired wrong, even if they manage to earn a Budweiser.

No matter how highly vetted, no matter how disciplined, no matter period....

Every subset of humans has its bell curve or 1%.

Yeah, I get that they are outliers, but aren't they by definition outliers? Supposedly in a good way? And we're talking about small, cohesive groups that really take care of each other. All units are that way IME. I get what you mean though. It's still just... Well, I expected more from them.

I'm not comparing them to Zetas exactly, just saying that's how they formed and it wouldn't be a leap for guys that can do this to do that. They got caught. What else did they do that they didn't get caught doing? They are smart guys, I'm a smart guy, I've been caught for shit but it's always been the .01% of all the shit I actually did (none heinous, but still).

I'm not, don't take my post out of context please. I know it doesn't represent all those guys (and honestly I know little about their structure and how many are in, etc.). Just like the sniper that shot all those people out of Ft. Lewis doesn't represent me or those I trained or worked with. Or the guys that pissed on the Taliban (well, I probably would have done that too but I'd have shied from the camera). But with a small cohesive group that you expect to be the best of the best, yeah, one bad apple can spoil the bunch if nothing but temporarily. It gives them a bad name and they all share the shame regardless of whether or not they participated. I know any dishonor on my unit was felt by all and we weren't Seals.

And I agree, sick of seeing the goddamn officers walk when they know good and goddamn well what's going on. If they claim ignorance, they should be held accountable for not having control of their unit, it's that simple.

We can point, talk, whine, cry, but until you correct the root issue it will continue. This is not the first time this same music has reared it's ugly head, it's been happening from the first time troops were given money for the drill. What is the root issue?
