When people can't appreciate the skill of a Naval Aviator

Yes agreed. Shame of a way to end the greatest job on the planet.

About a decade ago an AF pilot decided to barrel roll after doing a flyover at Fenway Park prior to a Red Sox game.

Soon as I saw it I thought cool but no way that was authorized in our risk averse world.

Sure enough the pilot lost the jet for a desk.

This just in.... According to the Navy, this was a promotional exercise gone wrong...

The pilots were trying to create an "Arby's" logo... and ended up off course.

The woman said she was worried she might have to 'explain to her young children what the drawings were'

why would you have to explain it?........if tge kid doesnt know what it is, just say "i dont know what it is"....problem solved.....no need to make a mountain out of mole hill....

In the early '80s an Eagle jock broke the sound barrier over Okinawa. A no-no during day-to-day ops. He did it while EOD was removing a cache of WWII hard bombs. Made AFRTS news that night. I heard he became the squadron training scheduler.

Navy is short Hundreds of pilots.... this dude will get a slap on the wrist... and a nudge, nudge... wink wink... and be back on duty.

In 1992, he would have been skinned. But today... hell no!

My better half's cousin (cousin-in-law???) is in the same Squadron of helicopter aviators... one of whose members did a little dippty-doo... in Lake Tahoe a few years ago. And got in deep you-know-what for his trouble. Especially since he damaged his bird.

But he didn't lose his rating or his ride... Though he has had "Keep Tahoe Blue" stickers placed on everything he ever touched since then. And I may have sent a few West for applying to.... his locker, chopper, car, front door... well, I know nothing... nothing....

This guys's career is not over. Not these days. He'll get a slapdown and a yelling-at-of-epic-proportions... But he'll be flying Monday morning.

Cheers,

Sirhr

It would warm the cockles of my heart to have that pilot off the coast of North Korea working with the prevailing winds to send an endless stream of cocks floating over Pyongyang.
