I would like to replace my scratched up R700 bolt with a new one, preferably a jeweled one. Sorry if this is the wrong section for this kind of a question.

Is purchasing an OEM one possible and if so where can I get one from other than searching through classifieds/eBay?

Here's a stupid question: why not have yours refinished and jeweled?

I guess that could be an option. If you know a place that will do it for well under the cost of a new bolt then fire away. My current bolt has 2 really deep lines from the rear action screw, which I barely tightened but easily went into the rear of the bolt channel and scarred the snot out of the bolt (And yes I used the right screws).

How could you have used the correct action screw if it did what it did to the bolt?

As far as price shopping gunsmiths, I'll leave that to you.

I only took apart one Remington 700, there wasn't a bunch of different screws laying around.
Rifle is all factory and never been taken apart before.
Long screw goes in the back anyways, so the short screw (front) wouldn't have even reached the bolt channel.
= I installed the right screws.

I don't know, you tell me. I think it has to do with the hilarious cheapness of the factory plastic stock that must have smooshed down under torque. I noticed when I took the BDL plate out of two different 700s, there were some kind of tape/foam spacer between the action and bottom metal. Perhaps that was the millimeter or two it needed (Mine didn't have it).

Now that you mention it there's a thread around here about how crappy Remingtons of late are.
