I'm waiting on my 6CM barrel from Craddock Precision. I've got every other part I need except the handguard. I ordered a Midwest Industries but when it got here I didn't like how it will leave the barrel nut and barrel extension ring exposed. I'm really wanting a handguard that will mount flush to the upper. I've found a few other options but not many. I'm wanting to have as long of a handguard as possible (only because I like how it looks). The barrel is 20" and I'll run a can so an 18-19" handguard would be ideal. I need the high profile version.

I've found a few from SMF tactical and DEZ tactical but not crazy how they look. I would love to have another SLR handguard but unfortunately the longest they make is 16".

Any help is greatly appreciated.

My first though was that you need to torque the barrel nut just a touch more, so the MI handguard slides all the way up against the nut, like it is designed to do. The 4 "teeth" on the handguard are designed to fit between the notches on the nut, they should not be blocked like your picture shows.

But then I saw that the rail on top of the MI handguard is already touching the receiver.......

So what brand handguard you can use may be limited by your receiver. MI handguard fits fine with my AeroP receiver.

Yeah it was only mocked up and finger tight. The alignment of the tabs didn't matter bc of the top rail as you said plus I didn't have a barrel in it. All the other MI rails I have are small frame AR's are flush with the receiver so I didn't even think about it when I ordered it.

The Odin Works handguard is what I'm probably gonna go with.
