i mean.....laugh if you want.....but by my calculations those oranges have a street price of around $15K....

The vodka isn't to go with any possible OJ. It's to get through all the bad puns in the thread.

If I put vodka in my Orange juice, I won't be able to concentrate. And I'll get Canned.

Then I'd probably lose my zest for life...

But keep on citrusizing me... beat me to a pulp! I'll just peel out from the curb and try and keep it between the blurred limes...

Cheers,

Sirhr

Just don't mention bananas. We have a thread for those so inclined elsewhere.

They do this shit with Watermelons too, steal them by the pallets; then open up a roadside stand 100 miles away, with a big sign that reads ORGANIC HOMEGROWN, and make a killing on stolen fruit. Tons of money is this scam. I literally just drank a glass of orange juice when i came across this thread. Yum.

On a serious note, a garlic farm near me had some $50,000 worth of garlic stolen last summer. Thieves went in at night and pulled up thousands of buds. No doubt, they were on sale in some NYC farmers market the next day. It actually is big business.

Last summer, not far from Schloss Nitrocellulose, a bunch of hippie types went through the woods (on private property... not mine) and took about 2 tons of fiddleheads... I saw the bags full. Huge garbage bags. A truckload. Big truckload. Was not sure what it was. But turned out that they hit the fiddlehead motherload and helped themselves to sell their haul to fancy restaurants in NY. They won't be back next year... property owner was pissed.

Cheers,

Sirhr

3 oranges per pound. 27,000 oranges. Bare with me as i typically use lemons or limes with vodka t 1/2 per 2oz vodka.
So lets say a quater orange per 2oz.
1/8 orange per oz vodka.
216,000oz vodka, or 1687.5 gallons.

On average vodak is about 40% more alcoholic content than vodka.

Could you restate your calculations in plain vodka for those unable to acquire alternative rocket fuels in their political subdivisions?

we had our honeybell orange trees and duncan grapefruit trees robbed.
the trees were old, big and massive producers, we went to the property after a cold spell, that gave them the over the top sweetness, and gone...
we think it was the carnies that come into town this time of year.

our citrus industry is desimated, citrus is going to be real expensive soon. hence, people stealing it.

Farm theft is a big problem by us. We have had several thousand pounds of recently harvested bagged onions stolen out of the fields and eventually has to hire guards to watch them prior to being sent to the shed for sorting. Lots of pecan orchards in our area and theft has become a real problem. Can't count the number of times we have run people out of the orchard. Sad part is in this welfare society lots of these people truly believe they are free for the picking.

Had one tell me the first 2 rows were fair game years ago.
I told them they couldn't out run rock salt.
