With spring training starting soon, anyone else excited for opening day?

I'm a Rockies fan hoping they make it past the wild card game this year.

    Who's your team?

Nope, never could get very excited about baseball. They play what, 200 games a year? It's 99% boring as shit, with 1% excitement.

Although, now that I said fuck off to those scumbags of the NFL, I may just reconsider ;)

    Similar sentiment, but different..........
Said fuck off to NFL, said fuck off to NBA, said fuck off to the Olympics, definitely said fuck off to Harverywood, said fuck off to television (see where this is headed ?). I know it's just a matter of time before the fuckwits in MLB start the same screed that has been going on in the NFL, NBA and Olympics. Have zero interest in any of that shit and in particular, hell will freeze over before any of them see any of my money. Sure seems like the decay in the moral fabric of society has accelerated in the last few years.

A die hard Yankee fan I lost interst years ago when Steinbrenner moved them out of "The House That Ruth Built". All of them make way too much money, Id rather watch college sports...Where UVA has top teams in baseball, basketball, and several sports.

I'm a Phillies fan, I'm just hoping for a 500 season! As for the ball players making too much money, capitalism! They entertain you for 162 games a year, 2 to 3 hrs. a game. And they don't try to stuff their political beliefs down your throat! Fuck the NFL and the NBA for doing just the opposite! And when you compare ball players to the uber liberal piece of shit actors and actresses who get paid way more than an average ballplayer, and who only entertain us for 1 to 2 hrs a movie or sitcom, and are forever trying to push their liberal bullshit on us, I'm of the opinion that ballplayers are underpaid! And goinghunting nailed it, hitting a round ball with a round bat, when you don't have any idea weather it's going to be a 95 mph fast ball, low and away or high and tight, or an 83 mph slider or curve ball, or a 75 mph change up, a ballplayer being able to hit 300 is one of the best athletes in the world. Go Phillies!

The Phillies do have one of the best mascots. You guys got Pat Neshek back too, bummer for the Rockies, he was a good reliever/closer.

The Phanatic is one of he bright spots for the Phillies. You should see him between innings, very entertaining, the kids love him. I'm glad to welcome Neshek back, could really use him! But you should be pretty happy, Wade Davis is lights out! He's a great addition for your pen. I love your third baseman, Arrenado has no peers! Blackmon and I forget your shortstops name, both are top tier ballplayers. You guys should be really solid this year.
    Mike

Trevor Story...Hopefully he gets better, last season wasn't very good offensively. Blackmon and Arenado are great players. The Rockies better bring a dump truck full of money to each players' houses if they want to keep them. I'm still hoping they sign Mark Reynolds and put him back on first base, Desmond is not an infielder.

Im a die hard Base ball ( Boston RedSox) fan who watches it all year. From General managers/owners meetings in December, to players drafts. As I get older, Im realizing how complicated Base Ball is. Everything from pitch counts, positioning of fielders, running.ect. There are soo many variables at each pitch. LOve it!

Who else is in the running for Reynolds? I didn't realize that Blackmon and Arrenado are going to be free agents. Hopefully you guys can keep them, it's great to see a team that came up from the farm system and stays together.

I'm with you, the complexity of the game was never evident to me until I matured, sounds better than old! Love the MLB network, Harold Reynolds brings it all the time. As a Sox fan, what's your take on Sanchez, Judge and now Stanton. I would hate to be a pitcher facing this years Yankee lineup!

Nobody that I know of. He's an unsigned free agent who wants to stay on the team. McMahon is their rookie 1st baseman, but I don't think he's ready to be a full time starting big league player.

It's even better when the pitchers bat instead of having designated hitters...sarcasm

If you guys get to keep Reynolds, this could be a big year. Always seems that the year of a ballplayers impending free agency, they have career years!

I'm old school, like to see the managers make decisions. But on the other han, the added offense of the DH makes for some exciting baseball! I guess we have the best of both worlds!

    Love baseball! Can't wait.....

My prediction: Yankees-Dodgers, World Series, Yankees in seven.
No, I'm not a Yankees fan....

I’m a big fan of the game, but haven’t watched much on TV the last 2 seasons. My time is limited between work & ball. I coach a travel team, also coach summer ball & still play on a competitive softball team. I miss a few games during the fall season to coach but my teammates are pretty understanding.

The kids are the future of the sport. Drill the fundamentals of the game into them & you’ll develop ball players. As I tell the kids & the parents alike, “You’re never too young to win.”

At this age (13U), the kids understand they’re there to win. How could you not love a game w/ no clock or limit to extra innings to determine a winner? It’s the greatest game in the world where anything can happen.

Astros got Houston buzzing last year! I'm excited, another excuse to drink coldbeer

The best part about this season is going to be, the my local Pro Baseball team is going to be the AAA team for my Mets! ( and the fact I can now have my beers and food delivered to my seat , is a big plus too! No more lines)

OK, so the better question is this: who is actually playing ball this season? This can be hardball if you’re one of the lucky few to still play hardball or softball. Softball can be a competitive league or even a beer league.

We have the triple A Yankee team, The Rail Riders, not to far from my home. We'll go to see them a few times during the season. Great baseball, these young guys are really close to making the show, they bring their game each and every night. They hustle and don't ever take a play off! It's a great night out and costs about a third of going to a major league park.
    Enjoy your triple A Mets.

The game has passed me by. There is not much I wouldn't give to just play one more game behind the plate. You fellas that still play, savor and enjoy each inning.

I WAS a die hard Yankee fan from the days of Mantle, Maris, Ford, Berra, but when Steinbrenner sold "The House Thet Ruth Built" the game lost something. Dumb move Stein.
I was the same way with them in the 70's. When Dip Shit fired Billy Martin the 4th time, I said fuck him. Whats the best way to screw it to Stienbrenner? Become a die hard RedSox fan!
Its been almost 40 years, and havent looked back. Just when you think they changed. They do something to remind me what idoits they are.( like tearing down the house Ruth built). I was at the old NYY stadium ( as a baseball fan, how can you not go see hollowed ground), and the new one. The new one is a commercialized joke!

Hell yeah I’m excited! Let’s go Dodgers!

Last year was so damn good to watch but soul crushing at the end. Fuck Yu!

Rockies scare me, they have some young starters and now a bullpen. I’m legit worried and I think they will make playoffs easily, maybe even take the division. Dodgers pitching has me worried, everything else is in place and they are hungry for revenge!

MLB is the only sport I follow, I think baseball is poised for a great resurgence in popularity nationwide. 20 more days!

    Oh and FTG

Looking forward to this year, hopefully one year closer to a new stadium in Oakland but I won't hold my breath.

I was never a Red Sox fan but Ted Williams was one for the books. "The Splendid Splinter". Served with the Marines in WWII and Korea and is still likely the greatest hitte ever in baseball. One hell of a role model.

Williams likely would have approached or exceeded Babe Ruth's home run record if he had not served in the military, and might have set the record for career RBIs as well, exceeding Hank Aaron's total.[132] While the absences in the Marine Corps took almost five years out of his baseball career, he never publicly complained about the time devoted to service in the Marine Corps. His biographer, Leigh Montville, argued that Williams was not happy about being pressed into service in South Korea, but he did what he thought was his patriotic duty.

No. I had to look it up to find out that the Arizona Diamondbacks are the local team. This from a lifelong Yankees fan. But no more.

I find college baseball to be the best source of quality games on the planet for baseball fans. These guys are hungry. They never take a play off, fail to hustle, etc. These guys are also very talented. Think of the ball being thrown at 90+ MPH and making solid contact w/ an aluminum or composite bat!

I still play competitive softball & I this year I’ll be an assistant coach on a travel team & manage a summer (Babe Ruth) team.

I won’t go out of my way to watch MLB games, but I will watch college games if the opportunity presents itself. Also, I will go out of my way to watch the NCAA CWS.

Great start for the Phil's, bullpen blew it again , last year all over again! Gonna have to use the old Red Sox joke. How do you tell aPhillies fan on the first day of the season? He's the one in the bleachers screaming Wait till next year!

Stanton hit two last night, Yankee fans should be thrilled!

I think there were several teams in both leagues that had opening day jitters. Hopefully the Rockies show up tonight.

Hopefully the Rockies/Padres brawl lit a fire and they (Rockies) start winning.

How are you liking the new Phillies manager so far?

When he pulled Nola in the 6th during the first game of the season with a 5-0 lead and they lost, all the Phillie fans where calling for his head. But like I said, its early and we'll have to give him some time. Fingers crossed! Are you sure your guys know they're playing baseball and not hockey! Good brawl with the Padres!
