Hello from central Texas

Grown up shooting, mostly hunting in Texas and Africa. Last ten years or so I’ve been playing around with longer range target shooting. Up until a month ago I just played with my 30-06 deer rifle and a fun little Remington .204 I put together. I recently won a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, I know it’s just an inexpensive production rifle but I’m pumped to go for 1000 yards and can already feel the itch of wanting to build a chassis rifle.

I’m interested in maybe taking a long range shooting course to learn some fundamentals. I’ve been looking into Rifles Only but I wanted to see if anyone had experience with any. I live in the DFW area and originally from South of Austin so I travel there often. If anyone has opinions feel free to share. And I’m glad to finally be on SH.

welcome! thats a great looking rig. I would put some training on your radar and there are tons of class recommendations in the training forum.

Hello there! Do you shoot any matches up here or have a favorite range?

Been up here for a couple of years, haven't shot any matches since being up here, looking at getting back into it since I'm settled in both the location and new job. I'm located in the far SE part of the metroplex (recent move, was living in the SE Arlington area), so I usually shoot at TDSA in Ferris. They go out to 400 yds currently. Was going to check out ETTS since they aren't far from me, but haven't been there yet.

Gotcha. Yeah I’m in Carrollton, work in Richardson. I’ve been eyeing ETTS and a couple others. Never shot a match but may go watch one with the North Texas Precision Rifle Club. They shoot matches once a month up here.
