Got the English out of most of Ireland, then fought them to a standstill in Northern Ireland and got basically semi self government with their leaders getting to be part of the new government.
That's not to say that their new "free" government wasn't at times near as bad as the previously replaced one... but that's history all over the world.
(For example, our government now is more controlling, rights restricting and taxing than the English government was when the founders of our country decided they couldn't take the oppression any more).

The NRA is more than an organization. Firearms are part of who We as Americans are. Even many Lefties. So to declare the NRA a terrorist organization would be equivilent to declaring Civil War. That ain't gonna happen.

The press won't declare Antifa a terrorist organization, but the press wants to legitimize Antifa. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the press begins to try and re-label the NRA. The press will however have to deal with the common knowledge that the NRA has not rioted, broken and burned buildings, or tried to deny anyone their right to free speech. That doesn't mean the press won't try and re-label the NRA as something new and frightening that needs to be reigned in.
Comparing the NRA to the IRA will be pretty difficult because the NRA has not undertaken bombings nor has it condoned shooting at it's opponents.

I'll be surprised if someday soon Soros does not get the bright idea to get one of his shooters to join the NRA before they do their thing. But no the decent law abiding citizens who make up the NRA are not going to ever become terrorists.
