I am curious how people are finding the new action from American Rifle Co. The Mausingfield has been very interesting, and I think groundbreaking. I have no experience with either. I have gravitated to Rem 700 and Stiller, but I am seeing more and more ARC, both in actions and rings, so I have to stand up and take notice. I am also wondering why a new action.

I don't think you'll get an answer other than speculation since no one has received the Nucleus yet. I'm one of the early preorders and unless I missed something we are not expecting them until at least April so actual end-user reviews won't happen until summer.
I can only say that I ordered one because I like the design features, price, and reputation of the designer.

They were asked for a 3 lug action so they stepped up and made one. They also addressed the need for a cheaper custom action at the same time.

Totally would have jumped on the early deal Hancock or barreled action...
The "early deal Hancock" is still up. There's only ever been 1 deal for it. 1999 gets you a complete rifle.

There are 3 complete, functioning Nucleus actions in existence, all are EXP 0000x serials because they are all prototypes.
I've got 1 here, Short Action Customs has another and the 3rd is still with ARC.

I have a fully functional Hancock rifle in hand that I've been doing testing with in various calibers and on a couple of occasions I have invited some close customers to come T&E it and give me feedback on the rifle. All of the customers invited own several rifles from PVA and are also all owners of both the Mausingfield and the Bighorn TL3 so that I knew that the feedback would be coming from learned sources.

The overwhelming response has been very positive. Including all 3 of those customers putting deposits down on Hancocks that day.
We are going to be demo'ing the prototype Hancock at the NHRPC Pro/Am match this coming weekend. Each competitor will have a TYL rack to engage with 5 rounds off a bipod with the Hancock. I am bringing the rifle with the 6mm Creedmoor barrel on it and we will be shooting Hornady 108 ELDm factory ammo.

    Awesome!

Thanks for the post Josh. This is great news. I get more excited with everyone of your posts.

Are we going to get a report with pics from the match? Boy I hope so.

    Is it April yet? :D

I'm sure someone will post it up and we'll likely get guys running video there. It's a steel plate TYL rack and it's in the middle of a match. Mostly it's a demo stage that gives folks a chance to shoot a new rifle concept without being penalized by a KYL or somethign else... same rifle, same ammo, etc for the whole match. I'm going to run a quick clean through it before and foul it then the same every 20 shooters or so and quick foul it again so that folks aren't getting to shoot it after 400 rounds of hammering away with a nasty ass bore.

Josh has said several times he does not do superficial guarantees. He has stated he lets his work product and reputation speak for itself. Josh said he does not have the time to go out and shoot each rifle at the range to ensure the accuracy.

With any custom builder, look at their reputation, look at their consistency, look at their customer service, look at their customer’s complaints/praises and decide which one fits you best. They all shoot better than 95% of the shooters (myself included) on this forum. If you get a well known maker to build a rifle for you, or send you a barrel, it will most likely be operator error on the shooter’s part if it does not make that magical .5 MOA grouping everyone craves.

A properly done barrel with proper ammo with proper fundamentals will guarantee good groups, not a manufacturer’s ink on a piece of paper.

Yea, no need for sub MOA guarantees. if a custom rifle doesn't shoot that, most times it's the shooter or ammo. especially if it's a PVA rifle.
