Pre2014 Accuracy International AX barrel change

The action is machined differently entirely, it's not just a few different parts that you could acquire to convert.

Assuming the quick lock actions are just the same actions but with additional cuts, and this is a BIG assumption, you would have to unbond the action from the chassis and perform all the same cuts. You still wouldn't have the 6 lug bolt, your warranty would absolutely be void, and you would be taking a very real chance in turning your rifle into a very expensive paper weight.

If you want quick lock then it would be foolish to not just upgrade rifles and get the other benefits of a new AX as well like the PSR butt, small firing pin, new hand guard design that comes off with 2 easy to access screws vs 8 that you have to pull the forend cap to access.

I was told it's possible to use new AX style barrels on the older pre-14 receiver. Just not necessarily in the 'quick lock' manner.

Someone smarter than me needs to confirm this, but depending on what you want to do; this may be a good option.

This is correct, any of the small tennon barrels (except the specific AE barrels) and interchangeable across the short action models.

Is it possible with the large tenon models? For example a Pre-14 AX338 with a new AXMC 300 Norma barrel?

I know they changed the tennon size and I know the original magnum barrels (AWM/AWSM) where a smaller tennon. I believed the pre 14's where all that smaller tennon and the post 14 AXMC's are larger but don't quote me on that.
