As I was cleaning carbon off my crown last night I was wondering....

If you shoot with a brake or suppressor, how much does the crown really matter?

Carbon buildup, knicks, scratches, gouges, etc.... do you think it would drastically affect anything if the brake or suppressor has a good crown on it?

I would say if you want the bullet making it through the can or MB safely it would matter.

Kind of off topic but if you leave your suppressor cover hang over the end edge of your can you can create a false crown negatively affecting the bullet.

The carbon buildup you are talking about is probably on the end of the muzzle not on the crown. A brake or a suppressor doesn’t have a crown.

No I just mean the end of it. The last part of the gun that the gas leaves behind the bullet.

Like if you slide your cover over your suppressor you can see an issue from having a false crown.

Pulled my TBAC brake for the CB30 can after 500 rounds. I guess standard bore cleaning with WipeOut takes care of this on my end.

This rifle was still shooting very consistently out to 1000+ when I pulled the suppressor because I had a carbon ring in the throat. Would you say that build up was on the crown? ??

H4350. I did not expect it to be so dirty, since I've shot thousands of rounds of this same load without noticing it before putting the suppressor on. This was probably 800-1000 rounds. I think the suppressor also contributed to the carbon ring.
