Hello,

Can someone who owns one of these educate me on the process of changing the bolts on the rifle? Is it as simple as pull one out put the other in or do they share components? do you have to swap the firing pin assembly between them or do they each have their own? Asking because it seems like some people that bush the bolts bush all of them and I am not sure why.

To go from long action to short you will need to change the firing pin assembly. Super easy to do. As far as people bushing the bolts, its only for certain things like 6.5X47, but I could be mistaken. From personal experience I have about 1500 rounds of 6.5 CM with no problems and 400 of 308 all with factory bolt and firing pin.

Thanks for the reply on this. It's kinda what I thought since once people bush the short action bolt they seem to do them all. I wonder if you could buy a "spare" firing pin assembly and just bush the short action bolt but maybe it's cost prohibitive. I was planning on putting a 6x47 barrel on the rifle. I don't own one yet but am trying to weigh the differences between the mc and the mc308 to make a good decision and hopefully buy once cry once.

You do have to switch the firing pin, but it's tooless and extremely easy. I've found it best to put the safety in the middle position, remove the bolt, twist and it's out.

I believe you can buy an extra assembly but I haven't had problems with my 6.5 creed yet.

I have all three bolt bodies for mine but only one firing pin assembly. I switch between bodies in seconds. I did have primer flow on my .300 Norma and 28 Nosler. I had all three bodies bushed and the firing pin ground down to the small firing pin diameter. That fixed all of my issues.

Who did you send your bolt bodies to, how much was it, what was the turn around time, and did they have to alter the barrels for headspace?
