You can look on GunBrokers website for tips for Sellers and shipping. I used their info to get comfortable shipping the first time I shipped a firearm.
Because it is a rifle, you can ship USPS if you want and package it well. As an individual, You are allowed to ship to an FFL, which would include Savage.

have shipped many a rifle. nothing special is needed. though i would put insurance on it, and package against damage. put a tracker on it too, and duplicate receipts of how much everything is and send a copy with the rifle. if it's a repair due to manufacturing issues perhaps savage will reimburse the shipping.

If you don't have a case with a matching cardboard box you can order one on amazon as they'll (in my experience) ship you the case in a cardboard box.

Depends on the state as to whether you can ship to an FFL as an individual. Also, some FFL as a preference do not allow individuals to transfer to them.
Best answer. Geez, he's shipping back to Savage for repair. Making way too much out of this.
Yea......he'll probably never, ever, ever ship a rifle to anyone else for any other reason than for repair. Why educate him further than this exact instance?
