Rifle Scopes How is everyone liking the NF 7-35?

I prefer turrets/illumination control and reticles of other brands, but it’s built like a tank and great glass. If the reticle selection and ergonomics fit your preferences, you can’t really go wrong.

I don't like mine....I love it. I much prefer it to my S&B 5-25 PMII.
MIL-C reticle is my favorite. I love both the floating center dot and the 0.2 mil hash marks versus the 0.5 mil on my S&B Gen IIXR. I think the turret legibility is better than any other scope I own. The turret feel isn't as crisp as the DT on my S&B and I was concerned about that at first but after using it for a few months now, I much prefer the turrets over the S&B DT but that is me.
One feature that many overlook is the ZS. It can be set below zero to whatever you pretty much want which is a huge advantage over the fixed 0.3 mil under of most manufacturers.

I love mine! I don't have anything in the same class to compare it to. But it is so much better than my PST II or my Sig Tango 6. I have a Razor AMG for another rifle but the rings I want are backordered so I haven't been able to compare that to the ATACR. Hopefully in another week or so I can report more.
The 7-35 is fantastic. Only 1/2" longer than the 5-25, great field of view, and the resolution is great even at 35x. Really enjoyable to use.
A buddy of mine stopped carrying a spotting scope, and just uses his rifle with the 7-35 on his tripod.
I agree with this. The reticle and turret legibility are what made me switch my PMII. I do prefer the eyebox, color, and clarity of my PMII however. It's just easier to get behind. The only thing I DONT like on the 7-35 is the parallax. The PMII has probably the best parallax of any scope. The 7-35 parallax on my scope is just very off from the distance markings which bugs me with how I employ the scope in a match. It still gets parallax free though, and probably doesn't bug most people. Overall a great scope.
I do think the S&B eyebox is a shade more forgiving but for me it is splitting hairs. I have no issue with good position behind the NF. I think color and clarity are a wash but that is using my eyes which are not so great anymore. I think contrast and low light performance is really a NF strong point. The S&B is no slouch here by any means but I prefer the NF.
The parallax is another matter. It is definitely more difficult to get right due to the multi-turn diopter correction. There is a wide range of positions where the reticle sharpness is great but the scope is not parallax free. It took me a while to get right. When you do, the image and reticle are crisp and parallax free. The numbers are still off but better than the first couple of times I adjusted the parallax. There is no shortcut that I know of to get it right. I did get some advice from someone here that told me to look at the outer edges of the reticle. When that is sharp, you are likely there.

In March I shot about 200rds with it between 500yds and 1,000 yds on 6.5G(18) hold was around 12 mils ... i have tremor3 so using no dial style ...
Here is NF 7-35x T3 on 6.5G(18) on tripod at 730yd FP.
Had to crank down to 10x to get enough reticle in view to hold up for 1,000yds, but the glass is very clear and seeing the target was not an issue. Once you're looking thru the scope at 10x at a target at 1,000 yds (steel target) you stop thinking about the magnification, since you can see the target fine.

About a month ago, I moved the 7-35x over to new 7.62(22) bolt gun ...
And have shot another 200 rds with it thru the 7.62(22) and no issues with the scope.

Decision process for me took several months ... I have several L&S scopes (Mk6 3-18x T3, Mk4 6.5-20x TMR) and Burris XTR2 scopes (3-15x scr-mil, 5-25x scr-mil, 1.5-8x cq-mil) ... but I wanted to get my first "nice" scope. The short list included: TT 5-25x g2xr, Kahles 6-25 SKM3, NF 7-35x T3 ...
This thread on the hide was influential in the decision as the USAF 1951 test indicated the NF 7-25x beat the TT on resolution, just barely.

My secondary use case for the scope I would be buying was that it also serve as a spotting scope.
But the primary factor in the decision was the reticle. I wanted to try the wind dots, and after 2 months of shooting with the wind dots on the NF 7-35x T3 and the L&S Mk6 3-18x T3 (I upgrade the L&S from H58 to T3) ... I am not sorry. The wind dots are easy. In my initial 2 min kestrel read on the wind, I index the MPH to the sounds I hear, mostly the sounds the trees are making ... ok that sound at 8 mph ... but THAT sound at 12 mph, etc. So I can adjust more accurately based on sound with the wind dots and it is much faster as I don't have to translate to mils.
I work during the day, so I mostly shoot at night ... and the NF works well with NV and thermal clipons.

So overall, best day scope image I've seen, can resolve the targets I shoot even on low power. Image still clear on high power, conditions permitting. Wind dots are great, I love 'em. I can still see enough reticle to hold for 40-mph target (max speed yote) at 7x. No dial shooting possible out to around 1,000yds for most of my rifles/cartridges. For 1,000 to 1,400 need to crank up five mils and that halves the value of the wind dots, but still works in most of the conditions I find myself in.

Speaking of CS Tactical ... I happened to get my NF 7-35x T3 from CS tactical, since they could FDE the scope for me.

I have read rumors that the 7-35 actually has closer to 120 moa of elevation adjustment...Is that correct?
That is correct. I have mine in a 50 moa base and have enough elevation to get my 338 lapua past 2200yds. I have been very impressed with mine. I Shoot with a kahles gen 2 and 3, Steiner mx5 and s&b pmII and I think it’s as good as the s&b at 35 I think it’s better than the pmII at 25 in brightness and resolution.

I’m really enjoying mine, every time I take it out I like it even more. When I have it next to my Kahles 624i it’s hard to not want to sell the Kahles and get another 7-35. Mine is the Mil-c the Kahles only saving grace a this point is I love the skmr3. I wish NF would come out with a reticle lot like it and without a $400.00 preimium.
When I got my NF 7-35x T3, the Kahles 6-24x skmr3 ... was a close second and I feared the skm3 was actually a better reticle for me than the Tremor3. And I thought that because the skm3 has full illumination whereas the T3 only has "light" illumination. I shoot a lot with thermal clipon and one of the few regular uses for illuminated reticle I've found is avoiding inversion button pushes when running thermal clipon.
But, I wanted to try the "wind dots" on the T3 and the NF7-35x also "won" the resolution test in a data driven review here on the hide up against even the vaunted TT 5-25x g2xr (which came in third on my list). And I wanted the 7-35x also as a spotter.

So long story short, if you want a hold-over reticle, I recommend the T3 due to the wind dots. Having shot with the T3 for 3 months now, I also swapped out the H58 reticle on my L&S Mk6 3-18x to a T3, so now have two T3s and I love the wind dots. Now I think in MPH when shooting with wind, no translation to mils required, my whole wind holding process has been extremely simplified.
I would happily pay $400 to get wind dots in all my reticles !
