PSA: Howa Barreled Actions for $270-$300ish

That right there makes my question a 4k+ custom rifle build every time I see it. For $300, you get a great action, good adjustable two stage trigger, bottom metal, and a decent factory barrel.

With this you could EASILY build a nice rifle for under 1.5k

Barreled Action - $300
FFL Transfer - $25
KRG Bravo - $400
SWFA SS 10x42 - $300 (less buying used)
TPS Rings - $90 (less buying used)
Harris BRM-S with KMW Podlock - $130
Total - $1245 + shipping

That build will shoot as good, if not better than most are capable of. Like the post above said, its EXTREMELY tempting. But I’m still picky and want a Mausingfield....

Shit, I went ahead and did it...

7.62x39. I was planning on going with the Ruger American Ranch in this chambering, but this is just too good of a deal to pass up. Besides, if push comes to shove, I can re-barrel the thing as a Grendel with no trouble at all.

I just got a Ruger Ranch in 762 X 39 got about 80 rounds through it.Vortex Crossfire 3-9 scope on it.At 100 yards I easily shoot 1 MOA and with Wolf ammo.Know telling what it would do with some better ammo.

I got one of the last FDE cerakoted Howa barreled action from Brownells a couple months ago. Got too many projects so I've got listed in PX for just what I've got in it if anyone interested. Wasn't as cheap as some of the blued guns or off calibers but still a bargain.

I have two Howa barreled Mini Actions in 6.5 Grendel, one is in a MDT/Brownells BRN-1 Chassis and the other is waiting on a Boyds Maple stock. I'm looking currently at buying a Howa made rifle that comes with two stocks; I'm considering the 6.5 Creedmoor barreled action for the spare stock. These are fantastic bits of kit.

@Cotay can you post up pics of the mini in the BRN-1 chassis? Assessment of the chassis? Thanks

Sorry for the slow reply. I'll get some pics tonight and post them up. Overall I'm very impressed with the BRN-1. No fitting or bedding of the action was necessary. Fit and finish are excellent and the weight is surprisingly light. I picked it over the LSS because of the M-Lok compatibility which will allow me to add a QD sling attachment to the front. The only thing I don't like is the sling swivel placement. I would have preferred another M-Lok slot as opposed to a built in Harris-style swivel. My favorite Bi-Pod is an Atlas with a Kinetic QD M-Lok adapter...with the BRN-1 the bipod has to sit farther back than I like. I therefore picked up a cheap Caldwell Harris-style bipod for now. One thing of note is that the M-Lok rail appears to be tapped for a top section, but I can't find anything available.

Here are a couple of pics. Sorry for the picture quality, my wife is the talented photographer in the family. I had a different scope on this previously and I just switched to the LRTSi and ADM AD-RECON-SL mount. Which now means I need a new stock so I'm looking to pick up the MDT Skeleton stock when they are back in stock at Brownells.

Should’ve bet money! Hopefully the Bravo is a more solid design than my CZ’s 180-Xray. I’ve found that the plastic skins get out of alignment. Bravo looks great though, as it seems like its a one piece design.

A Bravo and the Howa has got to be the best bang for the buck on the market!
