I really prefer its' fixed blade cousin the Spyderco Ronin 2 but knife laws being what they are some states only allow the carry of folders such as The Peoples Republic of California which only allow folders and many cities limit blade length. It is a serious fighting knife designed by Michael Janich. I woud refer you to Janich's, http://martialbladeconcepts.com/, for information on his concepts. For larger blades of the fixed type where allowed I really like my Cold Steel Master Tanto in San Mai and I have an old WWII Navy Ka-Bar I have used extensively. I'm not a real folder guy unless forced to by pencil pushers that don't know anything about having to defend their lives in real life.

I like the Ronin because it is easy to conceal and carry; fast to deploy when needed with an unbelievable cutting ability for such a small blade. I also carry my old Cold Steel Pro Guard neck knife when I travel to states where it is legal. Again it has a Wharncliffe style blade with an extremely secure handguard.

That why most of us prefer sidearms for self protection.... If a Grisly bear is coming at you or it's 2 legged cousin, is the discussion over
- fixed blade vs. folder?

-Or our tactics?
-Condition White Vs. Yellow
- FMJ vs JHP
- 9 Vs .40 vs. 45

Some of us don't have the luxury anymore of legally carrying a firearm. When I did, I had a CCW and carried my personal choice of firearms and yes that is plural. I still would if I could get a concealed carry in L.A. County CA. Having been a founding member of drug suppression for the U.S. Army back in 1972 and having had to defend my life with a firearm legally carried as a civilian against civilian vermin I much prefer a firearm. Unfortunately California does not feel American Citizens have a right to Concealed Carry unless you are a "privileged powerful" individual who can prove to their satisfaction that you have a "sufficient need" to carry a firearm concealed. The average citizen is denied such a right as self defense in California. This has almost cost me my marriage and still might. My wife knows how much I detest these "Progressive self-righteous intolerant people" that are the majority here. I wear my American Snipers Org. bracelet and badge on my hat to say up yours right back to them.

No, I am not allowed to carry a gun in The Peoples Republic of California but I have never been totally unarmed since 1967. I'm always in Condition Yellow if not Orange. I load 230 grain JHPs in my .45 ACPs and 210 Grain Silver Tips in my .44 Mag for the 2 legs and Randy Garrett 330 grain Hammerheads in my Rugers for the 4 leggers.

Well thanks papa I just ordered the ronin 2 yesterday because of you. Haha I honestly didn't even know they had that knife. I have the yojimbo already so I figured I should have the fixed version.

I hope you enjoy it! Post a report after you get it.

I have always like the smaller fixed blades for their concealability and the Ronin 2 cuts like a much bigger knife if ever needed. Check out Michael Janich's Martial Blade Concepts at martialbladeconcepts.com for a lot of good information on both the Yojimbo 2 and the Ronin 2 along with his knife fighting concepts. Good LUCK! I wish he had a school out here in California. Why is it I always seem to be on the opposite coast from the schools I want to go to?

Right seems the same here in the schooling. I will definitely check out the website and I'll give a report back here on the blade after I carry it for a couple days.
