Years ago I bought a Interarms Mark x Whitworth barreled action in .375 H and H back then I believe it only cost me 175.00 and I made a stock for it and did a lot of checkering ETC. a few years later I traded it to my brother and I had never shot it. So a few months ago we took it out and shot it several time and we could not get it to group under 2.5 inches performed ladder tests to no avail so I am new to actually truing actions and trying to learn everything can so I had been wanting to try out a Muller Barrel I have been using Bartlein Barrels and getting Excellent accuracy. He chose a 6.5 300 Weatherby Magnum so I have done everything I could do to the action truing the bolt and lugs, threads and where the barrel tightens to and I also pillar bedded the stock and floated the barrel. anyways we have done some ladder tests and used Berger and Hornady Bullets. Now this gun is shooting well we have 147grn. Hornady ELD`s and is at 3/8ths inch group. Berger 130grn. VLD hunting bullets group the same 3/8th`s inch. the weird thing about the groups is that it`s always a triangle and the after the third shot the triangle shifts slightly but is still within 3/8ths inch. I have no experience shooting long distance he wants to shoot 1000 yards is this good enough to do that or should we keep going and try to hit that 1/4 mark.

Wow just how fast are those pills flying.
we are breaking out the crono next outing but they are moving beyond the bullet on our ladder test we got two touching each other and one moved out about an inch and one hit sideways about an inch out also but it looked like it shredded and pieces of it on the target that was 86.6 gr reloader 33 and Hornady 147grn. ELD`s no pressure signs I think if the bullets could have taken it that it might have been our load so we went back to the 85.3gr. reloader 33 and it shoots 3/8ths pretty consistently.

You could play with the loads a little more but I'd probably start stretching it's legs. I'm guessing barrel life is (very) limited, I wouldn't want to spend it on load development. Also there may be some things that show up at further distances that will make you want to change the load a little. But yes I'd be happy with 3/8 moa out to 1000 yards.

thanks we are going to a place where we can get to 1000 yards so we are going to do that and crono it also we really need to know how fast those bullets are traveling out of the 28" barrel

Yeah I'll bet you'll be surprised. I'd suggest starting at 500 and truing up your muzzle velocity and then going to 1000 and truing your BC. You'll probably be chasing it a little less and get more hits faster but that's just my .02. I'm interested to see how you like the caliber and your first time shooting far! Are you shooting paper or steel?

Let’s think about this realistically: 3/8 of an inch at 100 is ABSOLUTELY fine out to 1K. Even if your group size DOUBLES, you’ll be at less than 10” at 1K. That’s if it doubles. So I would absolutely 100% not keep chasing loads. Use some of the 1000 round barrel life to stretch it out. If you’ve shot 100-200 getting load development, you only have so much left. Air that bitch out and see what it’ll do. ? I’ve been to a mile with my 6.5CM. I bet if the wind cooperated, you could EASILY get that bad boy to 2K.
